Job description
Your role
Cloover is enabling €100M+ in financing across five European markets — and the credit risk function is what makes that possible without compromising on quality. We're looking for a Credit Risk Analyst to own credit decisioning, KYC processes, installer onboarding, and portfolio monitoring end-to-end. This is a role at the intersection of risk and growth: you're not just checking boxes — you're shaping the standards that determine how fast and how safely we scale.
This is a hands-on role with a clear path to senior ownership as we grow. If you want direct exposure to credit risk in a high-growth fintech reshaping renewable energy financing across Europe, this is your seat.
You'll report to our Co-Founder & CFO and work closely with senior management from day one.
Your mission
Credit & KYC
- Execute and continuously refine consumer credit assessments using bureau data — Schufa, CRIF, Experian, Creditsafe — affordability checks, and PD scoring that hold up under scrutiny.
- Run full KYB and AML screening on installer partners: UBO verification, credit checks, and ongoing compliance monitoring across all five markets.
- Continuously improve underwriting criteria, flag edge cases to the Head of Risk, and ensure every decision is defensible, documented, and aligned with our risk appetite.
Installer onboarding
- Lead operational assessments for new installer partners covering financials, certifications, and operational readiness — owning the full vetting process end-to-end.
- Conduct credit scoring, business verification, and fraud prevention checks before partners access financing features.
- Set and monitor exposure limits per partner based on financial health and performance metrics, and coordinate site visits, sample testing, and periodic reviews to maintain partner quality.
- Manage onboarding across five European markets, adapting processes to local regulatory requirements without losing consistency.
Portfolio monitoring & modelling
- Build and maintain portfolio monitoring dashboards tracking credit quality, concentration risk, and early warning signals — the analytical backbone of the risk function.
- Build and refine risk models that support underwriting decisions and portfolio management as the book scales.
- Analyse trends across regions, installers, and customer segments to identify emerging risks before they become portfolio events.
- Prepare risk reporting for internal stakeholders and support covenant monitoring across our financing vehicles.
Your profile
We care more about how you think and what you've built than where you've been. Here's what will set you up for success in this role:
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in credit risk, underwriting, KYC/AML, or portfolio management.
- Bachelor's degree minimum in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Excel power user — comfortable building models from scratch and analysing large datasets without needing a template to start from.
- Flags concerns and challenges assumptions before they become problems — doesn't wait to be asked.
- Works with precision in a fast-moving environment: detail-oriented without being slow, rigorous without being rigid.
- Fluent in English and German — both required given our markets and counterparties.
- Based in Berlin and energised by being in the room. We're intentionally office-first — decisions get made in real time, risk calls get stress-tested over lunch, and the founding team is ten metres away. If that's how you thrive, you'll feel at home here.
Nice to have — but not required:
- Experience with BI tools such as Metabase, Power BI, or Tableau, or credit decisioning platforms.
- Programming skills in Python or R.
Don't meet every requirement? Apply anyway. We hire for potential and perspective — credentials are a starting point, not a ceiling.
How we hire
We keep things transparent and respect your time. Most go from first call to offer in under three weeks.
- Intro call (30 min) — We want to understand what you're looking for, not just screen your CV.
- Hiring manager interview (30 min) — We go deep: your experience, your thinking, how you approach problems.
- Case study (1 hour) — You get the brief in advance. We care about your approach — not whether you land on the right answer.
- Offer & signed contract.
Need any adjustments at any stage? Just let us know.
Why us?
- Performance pay. Strong base, bonus tied to outcomes, and meaningful equity — recognised when it happens, not locked behind annual cycles.
- AI-native & unthrottled. Unlimited enterprise-grade AI — no caps, no approval process. Every role, every team. The grunt work disappears so you can focus on what actually requires human judgement.
- Real ownership on a real mission. From day one you're shaping decisions that impact thousands of installers. We're not just building software — we're powering the energy transition across Europe.
- Grow faster than anywhere else. You'll work directly alongside the founding team and world-class investors. If you're building toward your own venture one day, there's no better room to be in.
- The basics, done well. Prenzlauer Berg office with the latest Apple hardware. Free breakfast and dinner, stocked kitchen, 25 days vacation, Urban Sports Club (M), and company discounts.
