Role Purpose
The Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC) is building a new Europe Trade & Compliance organization. The Europe Customs Tariff & Origin Lead is accountable for accurate tariff classification and origin determination across the European business, ensuring customs compliance, optimized duty outcomes, and robust governance. The role drives end-to-end ownership of tariff and origin data quality, process controls, audits readiness, and supports strategic sourcing and supply chain changes by assessing customs impact (duties, FTA eligibility, origin risk).
Key Responsibilities

Lead compliance for tariff classification and origin across Europe for finished goods, raw and packaging materials (HS/CN classification; preferential & non‑preferential origin).

Ensure correct origin qualification and evidence by leading rules‑of‑origin assessments and maintaining audit‑ready documentation to support compliant preferential/FTA claims where eligible.

Own governance for tariff/origin decisions and change control, ensuring consistency across markets and timely updates when products, specifications, suppliers, or manufacturing/flow changes occur.

Lead BTI / advance ruling strategy for classification and origin topics, including technical dossier preparation and lifecycle management (validity, renewals, impact of changes).

Drive tariff/origin risk mitigation and assurance, including periodic reviews, deviation investigations, corrective actions, and support during customs authority audits or queries on tariff/origin matters.

Leading duty refund submissions processes

Preferential origin check, and requesting of LTSD

Classification of the goods and supervision on duty rates applied

Deliver customs trainings and customs advises to the business
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Law, Finance, or equivalent).

5–10+ years in customs/trade compliance, with deep specialization in tariff classification (HS/CN) and rules of origin (preferential & non-preferential) within EU and UK.

Practical experience supporting customs entries and audits

Experience working with brokers/forwarders and managing compliance processes across multiple countries.

Fluency in English and German, other language is a plus

Familiarity with customs/trade tools and ERP master data processes (trade compliance systems a plus)

Track record of delivering duty optimization through governance (without taking undue risk).
