Job description
Your mission
As a BMS Software Engineer (all genders), you will join the VÆRIDION R&D team within the Technology division. You will be responsible to lead the development of software required for our propulsion battery management and power distribution for VÆRIDION’s CS-23 all-electric aircraft. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of the High Voltage Electrical Power System at the core of VÆRIDION’s novel propulsion system.Your Day-to-Day
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded software for propulsion battery and power distribution from prototypes to future airworthy systems.
- Implement software development processes and toolchains in compliance with aviation standards and regulations.
- Define and document software requirements, specifications, and interfaces for the high voltage electrical power system.
- Collaborate closely with cell, electrical, and thermal engineers to develop robust and efficient algorithms for battery state estimation, cell balancing, fault detection, power control, and thermal management.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of the software, including integration testing with other aircraft systems.
- Support system integration, iron bird/field testing, and certification efforts, providing expertise on software functionality and performance.
- Stay current with advancements in battery technology, software development methodologies, and aviation regulations.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems and real-time applications.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing software for safety-critical systems, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industries.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Experience with battery management systems, electric propulsion, power electronics, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with aviation standards such as RTCA DO-178C and DO-254 is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
- Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or other language would be beneficial.
