What we’re looking for
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Software Engineer Robotics / Autonomy to design, build, and deploy software for real-world autonomous UAV systems. In this role, you will contribute to the development of our autonomy stack, working across mission logic, navigation, and system integration. You will be involved from early prototyping to production-ready deployment, ensuring reliable performance under real operating conditions. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will grow quickly, take ownership of your work, and help shape robust, field-ready robotics systems.
The day-to-day
- Develop autonomy software: Design and maintain UAV autonomy software, including mission logic, navigation, safety conceptsand fall back behaviors
- Implement system integration: Integrate autonomy software with autopilot stacks (e.g. PX4 /ArduPilot), including telemetry and health monitoring
- Shape core robotics systems: Contribute to planning and control interfaces, coordinate frames and timing mechanisms
- Deliver production-grade software: Build robust software including tests, tooling, and simulation / HIL infrastructure
- Ensure field performance: Support systemintegration to guarantee stable and predictable behavior under real-world operating conditions
You should apply if you
- Bring a solid foundation: Initial experience in robotics, autonomy, or software devel-opment; suitable for entry-level candidates with strong motivation and willingness to learn
- Master the fundamentals: Strong foundations in computer science, software engineering, and system-level thinking
- Apply programming skills: Proficiency in C++ (core development) and Python (tooling, prototyping)
- Understand robotics principles: Basic understanding of navigation, state estimation and control concepts
- Work hands-on: Ability to turn ambiguous requirements in to functional, testable solutions
- Language skills: English is required; German is a plus
Nice to haves
- UAV experience: Experience with UAVs, autopilots, or tooling such as PX4, ArduPilot, MAVLink, or Q Ground Control
- Simulation & middleware: Familiarity with ROS 2, simulation environments, or SITL/HIL workflows
- Additional skills: Exposure to perception (e.g. Open CV, simple ML models) or DevOps (Docker, CI/CD)
