Senior Systems Engineer
Do you want to write code that genuinely matters in the most critical of situations? As a Software Developer at Systematic, you will help build the mobile software that military commanders rely on for situational awareness and decision-making at the tactical edge.
The job
You will join the Mobile programme, which develops software for mounted and dismounted commanders in the field. The solutions run on vehicles and handheld devices, implement resilient network protocols so frontline units share a common operational picture, and expose APIs that allow customers to integrate sensors and drones. Above all, ease of use is a defining priority — because the people using this software cannot afford complexity.
In this role, you will work across a full-stack codebase with a frontend in Angular and a backend in Java. Your day-to-day will include troubleshooting and solving complex problems in an existing codebase, implementing new features in close collaboration with domain experts, a UX designer, and a software architect, and maintaining code quality through design and code reviews with your colleagues.
Joining the team
You will be part of a small, focused scrum team based in Aarhus — currently three developers, a tester, and an architect, with a range of experience levels that makes for genuine knowledge-sharing in both directions. The team is part of a larger Mobile programme spanning seven scrum teams across Denmark and Romania, giving you access to a broad community of colleagues while still working in a setting where your contributions are visible and valued. The team has worked together for three years and has a collaborative, open culture where ideas and feedback are actively encouraged.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone with a bachelor's or master's degree in software engineering or a related field, and at least three years of experience working in a professional software development team.
You have hands-on experience with Angular, Java, or both. If your background is stronger on one side of the stack, what matters most is a genuine desire and ability to grow into full-stack development — with a particular focus on frontend work in Angular.
You are proactive, open to feedback, and comfortable communicating actively with colleagues and stakeholders. You take initiative, offer help as readily as you ask for it, and care about writing code of good quality.
Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
Please note that you must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or EU country for the past seven years, as we work with security-classified projects. Read more: https://systematic.com/int/careers/security-clearance/
