The Global Strategic Business Development Manager drives short-term and long‑term growth by identifying new market opportunities, shaping market‑informed strategies, and aligning customer needs with organizational capabilities across global markets. This role supports strategic growth initiatives within the Automotive and/or Commercial Equipment sectors, with primary responsibility for North America and Europe. Located in NA or EU but responsble for global BD.

Working closely with cross‑functional teams—including Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and the Technology/CTO organization—the Global Strategic Business Development Manager bridges market insight, technical capability, and execution to bring innovative solutions to market. Responsibilities span market and competitive analysis, customer needs assessment, product and portfolio strategy development, product road mapping, and pricing and growth strategy creation.

This role plays a key part in evaluating both short‑term and long‑term business and product opportunities, with a strong focus on identifying emerging trends and the “next big thing” to fuel sustainable growth. The position is actively involved across the full innovation lifecycle, including ideation, opportunity evaluation, concept development, prototyping, and collaboration with engineering teams to support product development and commercialization.

The Global Strategic Business Development Manager continuously monitors global market trends, customer requirements, and competitive landscapes, leveraging data‑driven insights and AI‑enabled tools to assess “what the market needs” and “what the organization does best,” and strategically align the two. Growth initiatives may include organic product expansion, strategic partnerships, and potential mergers and acquisitions. Success in this role requires strong strategic thinking, industry expertise, executive‑level customer engagement capabilities, and the ability to influence diverse internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop global growth opportunities through market, customer, and competitive analysis
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to help define the “next big opportunity”
  • Translate customer and application needs into actionable business, product, and portfolio strategies
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and CTO teams to align priorities and execution
  • Support innovation initiatives from ideation and evaluation through prototyping and handoff to engineering
  • Drive and support organic growth initiatives and evaluate strategic partnerships and potential M&A opportunities
  • Engage senior‑level customers, OEMs, and industry partners to understand long‑term needs and influence strategy
  • Leverage data and AI‑enabled tools to inform strategic planning, opportunity prioritization, and decision‑making
  • Support and oversee business development activities across North America and Europe

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic business development, business strategy, product strategy, or related roles; 10 years preferred
  • Industry experience in Automotive and/or Commercial Equipment markets required
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, customer requirements, and competitive landscapes
  • Technical background or experience working closely with engineering teams strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross‑functional, global teams without direct authority
  • Excellent communication skills with experience engaging customers and partners at the executive level
