We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What You'll do:
- Build enterprise cloud infrastructure that provides European data sovereignty and hyperscaler-grade capabilities. You'll work on SAP Cloud Infrastructure, solving complex distributed systems challenges at scale: multi-region networking, container orchestration, storage systems, and the APIs that connect them.
- You'll develop solutions using Go, OpenStack, and Kubernetes, tackling problems like: How do you auto-scale thousands of containers across regions? How do you build resilient storage systems? How do you design APIs that handle massive traffic spikes?
- Your work will power SAP's production systems and thousands of customer environments. You'll contribute to infrastructure that enables organizations to run mission-critical applications with the performance and reliability they expect from leading cloud platforms.
- In your role as Development Expert, you'll guide engineering teams building SAP Cloud Infrastructure through effective agile practices and delivery methodologies that enable rapid, reliable delivery of enterprise cloud services. You'll establish frameworks that help teams efficiently tackle complex distributed systems challenges while maintaining the quality and reliability standards expected by thousands of customer environments.
- Your expertise will shape how cross-functional teams coordinate to build hyperscaler-grade capabilities, implementing agile practices that support innovation in multi-region networking, container orchestration at scale, and storage systems that handle massive traffic spikes. You'll facilitate collaboration across teams working with Go, OpenStack, and Kubernetes to ensure effective delivery of production systems that compete with leading cloud platforms.
- Working within SAP Cloud Infrastructure, you'll design and implement agile processes that accelerate the development of enterprise cloud services that provide European data sovereignty. Your guidance will enable teams to deliver mission-critical systems that serve SAP's global customer base, directly contributing to how European organizations maintain control over their data while accessing world-class cloud capabilities.
What You Bring:
- Expert Programming: Deep expertise in Go, Python or similar languages, with a strong focus on distributed systems, security-sensitive services, and cloud-native architecture; experience with Rust is a plus but not required.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of OpenStack, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Azure, GCP with experience in microservices and event-driven architecture, along with infrastructure automation concepts.
- Identity & Authentication Knowledge: Strong background in identity and authentication systems or the foundations of Trust Services in cloud environments. Practical experience with technologies such as OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SAML, OpenStack Keystone, Keycloak, or comparable IAM components is highly valued.
- Technical Curiosity: Strong interest in authentication flows, identity lifecycles, trust relationships, and security architecture, with the motivation to continuously deepen expertise in IAM, cryptography, and cloud trust models.
- Technical Leadership: 8+ years of software development experience with a proven track record of contributing to or leading architectural decisions across teams in complex, distributed environments.
- Trust Services & Cryptography (Benefit): Experience with Trust Services such as PKI, certificate management, private CAs, or secure key handling is a strong plus. Familiarity with PKCS#11, HSM devices, or hardware-backed key management solutions is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Scale & Performance: Experience designing and operating systems that handle massive traffic, multi-region deployments, and highly available, resilient distributed architectures.
- Security and Compliance: Solid understanding of security principles and compliance requirements, with experience incorporating regulatory, risk, and trust considerations into system and architectural design.
- Cultural Adaptability: Experience working across cultures and languages, combined with strong communication skills for collaboration within diverse, distributed teams.
- Soft Skills: Excellent presentation, communication, and problem-solving skills; a structured, accurate, and self-driven working style; high level of commitment and reliability; readiness to work in a constantly evolving environment; enthusiasm for collaborating in a multinational team.
