About the Role
We are looking for a highly reliable, execution-driven People Operations Partner to own day-to-day HR operations in Croatia while helping scale global HR Operations across multiple countries (including Africa and APAC)
This is a hands-on role with high ownership. You will ensure operational excellence, accurate documentation and compliance, strong employee support, and continuous improvement of processes through systems and automation.
You enjoy HR as a craft, are curious about how organizations work, and actively improve workflows using technology (including AI tools such as ChatGPT).

What You Will Own
1. Core HR Operations (Croatia) (~45%)

Maintain accurate personnel records and HR systems (new hires, changes, leaves, exits).

Prepare and manage HR documentation (employment contracts, work permits/visas where applicable, guides).

Ensure compliance with Croatian labor law and internal policies; review and update policies as needed.

Coordinate payroll inputs (leaves, absences, overtime, schedules) and final validations with providers.

Act as first point of contact for employee queries; resolve issues in a timely, practical way.

Coordinate with external partners (payroll, legal, EOR providers).
2. Onboarding, Offboarding & Employee Lifecycle (~20%)

Own onboarding and offboarding processes (pre-joining, orientation, documentation, feedback collection).

Ensure a smooth, structured employee experience and continuously improve lifecycle processes.

Support onboarding of employees, including remote setups.
3. Global HR Operations & Manager Support (~20%)

Support and coordinate HR operations across multiple countries (Nigeria, Philippines, EOR locations).

Review/support employment agreements across jurisdictions.
-
Support managers globally with practical, business-oriented people guidance.

Identify recurring issues and propose scalable, simple solutions.
4. Systems, Automation & Continuous Improvement (~15%)

Own and optimize HR systems (HRIS, documentation workflows, tracking tools).

Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements using automation and AI (e.g., ChatGPT, workflows).

Build simple dashboards and reporting to improve visibility and decision-making.

Partner with Business Operations on overlapping processes.
What We Are Looking For
Must-Have

4+ years in People Operations / HR Operations / HR Generalist roles.

Strong ownership and execution – you get things done without constant follow-up.

Solid knowledge of Croatian labor regulation.

Experience handling HR documentation with high accuracy (contracts, records, policies).

Experience supporting onboarding/offboarding and employee lifecycle processes.

Experience coordinating payroll inputs and working with external providers.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organization/documentation skills.

Experience working in a distributed environment.

Ability to balance employee support with business realism.

Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Based in Zagreb and able to work from the office.
Strongly Preferred

Experience in scale-ups or international environments.

Familiarity with multi-country HR operations and EOR structures.

Good understanding of employment and contract regulations across jurisdictions.

Exposure to equity compensation structures (e.g., ESOPs).

Strong cultural awareness and ability to navigate different working styles.

Experience improving processes, systems, or using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT).
