Description**:**
As an intern in the J6 Cyberspace – Cyber Defense (CYD) Branch at HQ JFC Brunssum, you will participate in the assessment of cyber events and cyber threat actors and their impact on NATO’s mission. You will work from a technical and procedural perspective, by learning internal and external security best practices and fostering this knowledge into the understanding of the global cyber threat landscape.
About** the internship:**
During this 6-month programme, starting **1 February 2027 ****until 30 July 2027, **you will join the J6 Cyberspace (CYD) Branch. The J6 CYD Branch is looking for an intern to assist in the assessment of security events and risks, develop new monitoring and analytical tools and respond to security incidents.
The** ideal candidate**** **must:
****be enrolled and undertake a ****Bachelor’s or Master's degree ****in ****the field of Cyber Security, Computer Science (with exposure to Cyber Threat Intelligence or Cyber Diplomacy) or similar;
-
possess knowledge of international organisations including the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation;
-
be able to effectively plan and organize the working time;
-
have the ability to work under pressure.
In addition, we are looking for candidates having the following desirable skills:
-
strong computer skills (e.g. ECDL) including use of Microsoft Office package;
-
understanding of Cyber Threat Intelligence basics and a passion for staying updated on the latest developments in the cyber threat landscape;

knowledge or exposure to cybersecurity frameworks, standards and best practices;

understanding basic analytical techniques;
-
be able to understand and communicate technical circumstances and solutions to a non-technical audience;
-
be dynamic, self-motivated and personable with an ability to work in a team environment with people from diverse backgrounds.
Stipend:
You will be compensated at a fixed taxable rate of € 1477.30 (2026 rates), per month based on 37.5 hours internship work hours per week.
We will also compensate you for travel costs to/from university to HQ JFC Brunssum (within set cap rates).
Interns will be entitled to 2 days of leave for each full month (of 37.5 hours a week) of internship.
