Claims Handler – Hull (Marine)
Location: Rotterdam
Working pattern: Hybrid
Are you experienced in claims and ready for a role with more variety, technical depth, and meaningful responsibility?
This is a claims opportunity within a highly specialised marine portfolio, where no two cases are the same. You will work on complex hull-related claims, high-value marine cases, superyachts, land-based equipment, and specialist assets that require careful judgement, curiosity, and technical thinking.
This is not a purely process-driven claims role. It is an opportunity to build real expertise in a respected specialist market.
About the role
As Claims Handler Hull, you will manage a portfolio of hull-related claims from first notification through to resolution. You will work closely with underwriters, brokers, external experts, surveyors, and clients to assess claims, review technical information, and make well-considered decisions.
The portfolio can include:
-
Superyachts
-
Complex hull claims
-
Cranes, heavy machinery, and specialist land-based equipment
-
High-value and non-standard claims
-
Cases where judgement and investigation are just as important as process
Depending on your level of experience, the role can offer increasing exposure and responsibility over time.
Why this team
You will be joining a highly experienced specialist claims team with more than 150 years of combined expertise. That depth of knowledge creates a strong learning environment for someone earlier in their marine claims career, while also offering the technical complexity and market exposure that more experienced claims professionals often look for.
For someone developing their career, this is a chance to gain meaningful exposure earlier than you might in a more traditional claims environment.
For someone already experienced, it is an opportunity to focus again on interesting, complex work rather than volume, repetition, or purely administrative claims handling.
What you will be doing
-
Managing hull-related claims end-to-end
-
Handling technically complex and high-value cases
-
Reviewing claim circumstances, policy coverage, documentation, and expert input
-
Working closely with brokers, underwriters, surveyors, and external specialists
-
Applying judgement to claims that may not always have a straightforward answer
-
Building trusted relationships internally and externally
-
Contributing to a collaborative, knowledgeable, and specialist claims environment
What we are looking for
We are open to different backgrounds, but you will typically bring:
-
Around 3+ years’ experience in marine, hull, transport, cargo, or related claims
-
A genuine interest in developing deeper technical expertise
-
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
-
The confidence to handle complexity, or the ambition to grow into it
-
A collaborative and professional approach
-
Curiosity, ownership, and the ability to think beyond standard process
Experience in cargo or a related claims environment could be a strong foundation, especially if you are looking to move into a broader or more technically complex marine role.
What you will gain
-
Exposure to some of the most interesting claims in the marine market
-
The opportunity to accelerate your development or deepen your technical expertise
-
A supportive team with significant knowledge and strong market credibility
-
Real ownership of complex claims
-
A stable and respected environment where people build long-term careers
-
Hybrid working from Rotterdam
Why this role
Not everyone is looking for the same next step.
-
Some people want to learn faster.
-
Some want more technical work.
-
Some want to feel challenged again.
-
Some want complexity without losing stability and support.
This role offers that balance: specialist work, real responsibility, experienced colleagues, and the opportunity to build a long-term career in a respected marine claims environment.
Interested?
If this sounds like the kind of claims role where you could learn more, contribute more, and work on genuinely interesting cases, we would be happy to hear from you.
