At NERA you will apply the economic principles you learned at university to provide clear and credible expert analysis that has an impact on important decisions by clients, judges, juries and regulators.

In Antitrust and Competition, you will work on high-profile cases conducting theoretical and empirical economic analysis. You will for example develop economic evidence as to whether a tech firm may have abused its market power, quantify the damage possibly caused by a cartel, or accompany the parties to a merger through the review process in front of the European Commission or other competition authorities.

Your typical tasks will include:

• Conducting literature and data research
• Applying your technical skills and knowledge of economic theory and econometrics from the academic and policy literature to the facts of a case
• Cleaning, managing and analysing data as well as interpreting the results and translating them for a non-technical audience
• Assisting in drafting reports, memoranda and presentations
• Contributing to the team’s intellectual capital

Additional tasks as Associate Analyst/ Analyst will include supporting the more senior staff in:

• Managing people, projects and client relationships

This job is for you if you:

• Hold an excellent master’s degree in economics/econometrics, statistics or a closely related field (Associate Analyst)
• Hold an excellent master’s degree and have at least two years of experience in an economic consultancy or a competition authority; or hold a PhD (Analyst)
• Have excellent English and German oral and written communication skills, with Italian being an advantage
• Can work under tight deadlines and enjoy solving problems
• Are familiar with data analysis using Stata and possibly have advanced programming skills in R, Python or MatLab
• Have relevant work experience and/or are specialised in applied microeconomics, industrial organisation, competition economics or econometrics at university

Im Bereich Antitrust und Wettbewerb arbeiten Sie an hochkarätigen Fällen und führen theoretische und empirische wirtschaftliche Analysen durch. Sie werden beispielsweise wirtschaftliche Beweise entwickeln, um festzustellen, ob ein Technologieunternehmen möglicherweise seine Marktmacht missbraucht hat, den möglicherweise durch ein Kartell verursachten Schaden quantifizieren oder die Parteien einer Fusion während des Prüfungsverfahrens vor der Europäischen Kommission oder anderen Wettbewerbsbehörden begleiten.

Ihre typischen Aufgaben umfassen:

• Durchführung von Literatur- und Datenrecherchen
• Anwendung Ihrer technischen Fähigkeiten und Kenntnisse der Wirtschaftstheorie und Ökonometrie aus der akademischen und politischen Literatur auf die Fakten eines Falls
• Bereinigung, Verwaltung und Analyse von Daten sowie Interpretation der Ergebnisse und deren Übersetzung für ein nicht-technisches Publikum
• Unterstützung beim Verfassen von Berichten, Memoranden und Präsentationen
• Beitrag zum intellektuellen Kapital des Teams

Zusätzliche Aufgaben als Wirtschaftsanalyst umfassen die Unterstützung des höheren Personals bei:

• Management von Personen, Projekten und Kundenbeziehungen

Dieser Job ist für Sie geeignet, wenn Sie:

• Ein hervorragendes Masterstudium in Wirtschaftswissenschaften/Ökonometrie, Statistik oder einem eng verwandten Bereich (Research Officer) abgeschlossen haben
• Ein hervorragendes Masterstudium abgeschlossen haben und mindestens zwei Jahre Erfahrung in einer wirtschaftlichen Beratung oder einer Wettbewerbsbehörde haben; oder einen Doktortitel besitzen (Economic Analyst)
• Über ausgezeichnete mündliche und schriftliche Kommunikationsfähigkeiten in Englisch und Deutsch verfügen, wobei Italienisch von Vorteil ist
• Unter engen Fristen arbeiten können und Freude daran haben, Probleme zu lösen
• Mit Datenanalysen unter Verwendung von Stata vertraut sind und möglicherweise über fortgeschrittene Programmierkenntnisse in R, Python oder MatLab verfügen
