Job description
Mindpeak is a Hamburg-based scale-up at the forefront of AI-driven cancer diagnostics. Our software helps pathologists analyze medical images more efficiently and accurately - already clinically deployed in more than 25 countries. Our vision is to enable personalized and effective treatment for every cancer patient - to truly improve medical care and patient outcomes around the world.
Position SummaryAs a Pathologist at Mindpeak, you will play a central role in ensuring the medical quality and reliability of our AI systems.
You will act as the internal medical source of truth, owning annotation quality, model validation, and medical decision-making. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on execution, where you will directly shape how pathology expertise is translated into scalable, regulatory-ready AI systems.
At this stage, we are moving from individual-driven decisions to structured, system-based medical processes. You will be a key driver in building these systems and ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes across projects.
Your ResponsibilitiesAct as the internal reference and source of truth for pathology-related topics
Perform medical review and validation of annotations and AI model outputs
Own annotation quality and consistency across projects
Define, implement, and maintain annotation guidelines, scoring systems, and QC processes
Lead and support annotation projects (e.g. tumor grading, biomarker scoring)
Ensure predictable quality and throughput in medical workflows
Build and improve structured, scalable, and regulatory-ready processes
Support onboarding and guidance of internal and external annotators
Collaborate closely with ML, Product, and Project teams to translate medical requirements into AI systems
Contribute to model evaluation and clinical relevance assessments
(Optional) Support customer interactions, expert calls, or conferences as a medical expert
Board-certified or near-certified Pathologist
Strong clinical background in general anatomic pathology
High medical judgment and quality standards
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Hands-on mindset: you actively engage in annotation, review, and execution
Structured thinker with the ability to build guidelines and processes
Ability to translate medical requirements into technical systems
Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Clear and pragmatic communicator
Nice to have:
Experience with annotation workflows and scoring systems (e.g. Gleason, H-score)
Exposure to AI/ML or data-driven medical projects
Oncology experience
Experience in digital pathology
Experience with mIF
Experience in pharma or clinical trials
Interest in contributing to team scaling and leadership
The opportunity to build AI systems that power both clinical cancer diagnostics and data-driven drug development.
An open, creative work environment with flat hierarchies and quick decision-making.
Diverse, engaging projects that help you deepen both your technical and domain expertise.
A centrally located Hamburg office with a beautiful view over the harbor.
