Electro-Optical Test Engineer
Tasks
LIGENTEC is looking for a passionate and collaborative Electro-optical Test Engineer to join our Photonic characterisation team. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with proven hands-on experience in DC and RF electro-optical Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) testing. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to advancing LIGENTEC's electro-optical testing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
You will contribute LIGENTEC's growth by taking ownership of critical testing activities, including:

Upscaling E/O capabilities: Own the implementation of automated E/O (DC to RF) wafer-level and chip-level testing.

Automation & Development: Drive the development of automated testing tools and instruments, leveraging experience with remote instrument control and automation using Python.

Data processing & Reporting: Analyze and process large sets of measured data with Python and generate test reports for stakeholders.

Executing Testing Campaigns: Conduct cutting-edge internal and customer R&D testing using advanced chip-level and wafer-level optical and electro-optical facilities.

Metrology plans: Assess, generate, and validate testing plans, ensuring consistent design-for-testability practices.

Scaling Test Operations: Communicate with tool vendors to assess new solutions for scaling test operations and infrastructure.

Training: Provide training to test operators and engineers on developed testing procedures and equipment.
Requirements

Education: MSc, MEng, or PhD in photonics, electrical engineering or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in optical testing of passive and active integrated photonics components, gained in a leading university lab or in the industry.

Technical Skills: Proven experience with automated electronic DC and RF testing equipment (VNA, BER testers, high speed oscilloscope), Wafer-level and/or chip level testing, microwave theory and design, remote instrument control and automation with Python.

Mindset:Results-oriented experimentalist, dedicated to applying and expanding expertise in optical and electro-optical testing.Pragmatic problem-solver, adaptable to dynamic environments and shifting priorities, with a focus on timely delivery.
