Role Overview
Reporting to the Field IT Manager Europe, you will take full local responsibility for all IT systems and services at the Jena site.
You act as the single point of contact for local IT, ensuring stable operations, hands‑on support, and strong alignment between the local business and global IT organization.
Key Responsibilities
Local IT Ownership
- Take end‑to‑end responsibility for the availability, stability, and performance of all local IT systems.
- Maintain a stable IT infrastructure that supports local engineering and business operations.
Local Liaison & Coordination
- Act as the local interface between:
- Local business stakeholders
- International IT teams
- External outsourcing and service partners
- Ensure effective communication and alignment between local needs and corporate IT standards.
Hands‑on IT Support
- Provide on‑site, practical IT support for issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
- Support end users in following company IT support and escalation processes.
International & Local IT Projects
- Participate in international IT projects.
- Act as Project Manager or local project lead for site‑specific (Germany/Jena) IT initiatives.
IT Service Management
- Handle incident, request, and problem management according to ITIL practices.
- Support major incident coordination and ensure timely communication and resolution using ServiceNow.
Travel
- Perform occasional business travel as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology (or equivalent).
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within an international IT environment.
- Experience supporting an international engineering organization (hardware and/or software development environments).
Technical Experience
Hands‑on experience with corporate IT environments, including:
- End‑user computing (e.g. Windows, macOS, software deployment, office productivity tools)
- Networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, remote access, firewalls, wireless networks)
- Infrastructure fundamentals (virtualized environments, storage, backup and recovery)
- Mobile Device Management (MDM)
- Basic understanding of on‑site IT / data center environments
Service Management
- Experience working with ITIL‑based service processes (incl. major incident management)
- Familiarity with enterprise ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow)
Personal & Communication Skills
- Ability to work independently and take local ownership
- Organized and proactive, with a hands‑on mindset combined with the ability to operate at a site‑wide level
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in an international environment
- Comfortable acting as the local IT authority
Language Skills
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
