Your Responsibilities
The Alumni & Career Support Specialist is responsible for supporting alumni engagement activities and enhancing student employability through coordinated programmes, employer engagement, and career initiatives. The role requires a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to improving participation in career and alumni activities, including supporting internship opportunities and developing engagement formats. The position works under guidance and does not include strategic leadership or line management responsibilities.
Alumni Engagement- Support the development and maintenance of relationships with graduates.
- Coordinate alumni communications, mailing lists, and database updates.
- Organise and deliver alumni engagement activities, including networking and mentoring events.
- Encourage and actively increase alumni participation in university initiatives.
Career & Employability Support- Deliver and support career workshops and employability sessions.
- Provide first-line career guidance to students and alumni under supervision.
- Support CV reviews, interview preparation sessions, and job search activities.
- Coordinate and support employer engagement activities and career events.
- Actively support the sourcing and coordination of internship and placement opportunities for students.
Employer Engagement & Internship Support- Assist in identifying and maintaining relationships with employers offering internships and graduate opportunities.
- Support the promotion and matching of students to internship opportunities.
- Maintain records of employer contacts, opportunities, and student placements.
Programme Delivery & Engagement Development- Support the delivery of alumni and career development initiatives.
- Contribute ideas and assist in implementing initiatives to increase student and alumni participation.
- Help design and coordinate engagement formats such as:
- Career Speed Dating
- Career Fairs
- “Coffee with Careers” informal networking sessions
- Campus to Career
- Assist in evaluating participation levels and suggesting improvements to increase engagement.
Collaboration & Administration- Work closely with academic departments and student services teams.
- Liaise with employers and external partners to support events and opportunities.
- Assist in organising and delivering on- and off-campus events and activities.
Data & Reporting- Collect and maintain graduate outcomes, internship, and employment data.
- Support preparation of reports on participation, engagement, and outcomes.
- Ensure accuracy of databases relating to alumni, employers, and student engagement.
