We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to join Cytiva's Protein Research System Engineering section. In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, hardware, and applications, contributing to advanced Biacore systems that support our customers in the Life Sciences industry and academia.
This onsite position is part of the Protein Research R&D department located at our Uppsala site.
What you will do:
As a System Engineer, you contribute to product development with a combination of innovation, structure, and a strong system‑level perspective. You help identify and define new product opportunities and improve existing ones to enhance our customers’ toolbox.
You will work closely with cross‑functional development teams, collaborating on priorities, scope, and delivery to ensure well‑balanced system solutions across software, hardware and application. Learning about our customers and understanding their needs.
Your responsibilities include:

Developing a deep understanding of our customers and their needs

Planning and delivering team commitments as part of a cross‑functional project team

Creating and scoping user and system requirements for hardware and software

Defining verification and validation strategies for system and subsystem requirements

Planning, executing, and reporting verification and validation activities

Structuring and communicating requirements clearly to different stakeholders

Contributing to a collaborative team culture where different perspectives are valued

Continuously improving ways of working, with focus on quality and system performance
Who you are:
You combine analytical ability and creativity with a structured and holistic way of thinking. You enjoy understanding how complex systems fit together and take responsibility for the overall solution, not just individual parts.

MSc or BSc in a relevant Life Science discipline, such as Molecular Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or equivalent.

At least 5 years of professional experience of industrial product development within the Life Sciences industry and/or in a similar role.

Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in protein analyses and related applications.

Knowledge of and hands‑on experience with Biacore products.
-
Experience in leading and coordinating technical activities.

A genuine interest in product development, especially from a user perspective, with a focus on requirements development and hands‑on verification activities with a strong customer and application focus.

Both Swedish and English as working languages.
It would be a plus if you also have:
- Knowledge and experience from automation.
