Join us and be part of this journey towards greater opportunities and brighter futures We are seeking a Principal Customer Engineer who serves as a technical authority and trusted advisor for enterprise and public sector customers adopting and optimizing Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, and Azure IaaS–based virtualization platforms.
This role operates at a strategic and architectural level, combining deep technical expertise with executive engagement. The Principal Customer Engineer drives complex modernization initiatives, influences customer technology strategy, and ensures successful outcomes across hybrid and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary technical authority for Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, and Azure IaaS virtualization scenarios

Lead end-to-end architecture design for large-scale, mission-critical hybrid and cloud environments

Advise customers on enterprise virtualization strategy, including modernization and migration from legacy and VMware-based platforms

Partner with C-level executives, enterprise architects, and senior IT leadership to align technical solutions with business objectives

Drive complex architectural decisions, risk mitigation strategies, and long-term platform optimization
-
Lead technical governance for customer engagements, ensuring architectural consistency, resiliency, security, and operational excellence

Mentor and guide other engineers; act as a technical role model and escalation point
-
Influence customer roadmaps through deep understanding of Microsoft Modern IT Architecture and cloud strategy

Azure & Virtual Desktop Platforms

Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) – enterprise-scale architecture, performance optimization, security, and cost governance

Windows 365 (Cloud PC) – strategic positioning, design, and integration into enterprise endpoint strategies

Azure IaaS – expert-level knowledge of:

Compute, networking, storage, identity, and security
-
High availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery patterns
-
Azure Arc – hybrid and multi-cloud management and governance
-
Azure Backup & Azure Site Recovery – business continuity architecture and recovery design
Windows Server & Virtualization

Windows Server (2012 R2 – 2025) at expert level

Deep expertise in virtualization and migration, including:

VMware to Hyper‑V

VMware to Azure Virtual Machines

Azure VMware Solution
-
Azure Stack HCI
-
Failover Clustering and advanced high-availability architectures

System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)

Advanced Windows performance engineering, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
Experience & Background

15+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles, including:

Enterprise and cloud architecture

Infrastructure operations and modernization
-
Advanced technical consulting and advisory services
-
Proven success leading large-scale, complex hybrid and cloud transformations
-
Strong understanding of enterprise IT operating models and modernization journeys

Demonstrated track record of:

Designing and delivering strategic architectures
-
Operating and optimizing mission-critical environments
-
Driving long-term customer success and platform adoption
-
Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft enterprise platforms and ecosystem
-
Advanced level of English and good level of Dutch
