About This Role
Hyland is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our team and take ownership of the performance, scalability, and reliability of Hyland's internal cloud platform. Through the application of modern software engineering and cloud platform principles, you will design, develop, maintain, test, and evaluate platform capabilities that enable secure, compliant, and efficient delivery of cloud-native workloads. In this role, you will ensure the timely delivery of high-quality platform features and infrastructure automation in alignment with established release timelines and standards. If you're a cloud-savvy engineer with a passion for building resilient, scalable platforms and enabling developer productivity, we'd love to hear from you.
Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.
-
Design and implement platform capabilities for provisioning, securing, and managing AWS resources across multiple accounts and regions; develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) modules and tooling (e.g., Terraform) to support cross-account AWS deployments, Kubernetes cluster management, and developer self-service onboarding.
-
Build and maintain Kubernetes capabilities (EKS), including scaling, networking, and security policy enforcement; develop automation and tooling to integrate platform services with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, observability, and compliance validation.
-
Translate platform requirements into scalable and secure design specifications, ensuring alignment with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53); conduct complex peer code reviews and provide guidance on platform-wide impacts of changes.
-
Implement automated testing for infrastructure and platform services, including integration, performance, and security tests; collaborate with security and compliance teams to embed guardrails, policy-as-code, and automated governance into the platform.
-
Investigate and resolve escalated production issues related to platform services, ensuring high availability and resilience; influence platform engineering standards, contributing to best practices in cloud architecture, developer enablement, and operational excellence.
-
Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement; contribute to the overall growth and quality of the platform engineering discipline through knowledge sharing and coaching.
Role Essentials
-
Strong experience with AWS services (IAM, VPC, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, Route 53, CloudWatch, Lambda, etc.) or a related public cloud provider; hands-on experience with Kubernetes (preferably EKS), container orchestration, and workload deployment patterns.
-
Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar) and Git-based workflows; familiarity with cloud networking concepts including VPC design, subnetting, peering, and cross-account access.
-
Significant experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, Golang, C#, C, Python, or JavaScript; experience working in a Linux development environment with open source tools and platforms; demonstrated experience with build environments and delivery pipelines.
-
Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry); knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments, including IAM role design, encryption, and network policies; experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design.
-
Strong oral and written communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact; strong collaboration skills applied successfully within teams as well as with all levels of employees in other areas; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; self-motivated with the ability to manage projects to completion with minimal oversight.
