Description
The School of Life Sciences (SV) Sustainability Office is responsible for environmental sustainability within this faculty in EPFL. Working closely with the Dean’s office, we collaborate with the scientific, administrative, and student community to implement the “Green Lab” vision. This vision promotes environmentally and socially responsible research without compromising scientific excellence. Our strong partnership with EPFL Sustainability enables us to develop impactful projects tailored to the specific needs of life sciences research. In this context, we are looking for a motivated intern to contribute to the many Green Labs SV projects and events.
Mission
Your mission will be to support the SV Sustainability Office in implementing EPFL’s Green Labs vision.
Main duties and responsibilities

Contribute to the completion and finalization of the e-learning on lab sustainability good
practices

Support reporting activities and create communication materials showcasing the faculty’s
sustainability best practices (e.g., guides, booklets, infographics, website).

Analyze data and evaluate the environmental impacts of SV laboratories and technology
platforms across the faculty.

Evaluate major SV faculty purchases (cost, weight and carbon footprint).

Map and analyze plastic flows within the SV faculty and identify key levers to reduce plastic
usage.

Organize events to raise awareness and inform the community about sustainability (Plastic
Collage, Sustainability Days, Green Academy)
Profile
-
Master’s degree in environmental engineering, natural sciences, sustainability, or a related
field (internship must start within 12 months of graduation)

Strong interest in sustainability issues, particularly in academic research

Excellent communication skills in French and English, both written and spoken

Experienced in data analysis

Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders

Creativity, autonomy, organizational rigor, and initiative
