**12 Month Custodian **
**TITLE: **School Custodian
**QUALIFICATIONS: **Twenty-one years of age or older; Ability to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach and lift up to 50 pounds at a time; Ability to take direction and work independently to complete assigned tasks; Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times; High School Diploma, GED or HiSet preferred; Such alternatives to the preceding qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
**JOB GOAL: **To maintain an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; and minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure to the school district
**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:**12-Month
** COMPENSATION: **In accordance with Allen Parish School Board Salary Schedule

Perform all activities that are custodial in nature and deemed appropriate administration.

Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, classroom activities, and events.

Perform grounds keeping duties as assigned.

Attend district in-service training(s) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
-
Clean assigned school district facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gyms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive environment as assigned by administration.
-
Assist in maintaining seasonal grounds work (lawn).
-
Deliver various items (e.g., supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate places.

Open, close, and secure the building each school day to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.

Strip and wax floors.
-
Communicates and works with other school custodians to ensure efficient operations.
-
Help to respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning physical and educational environment.

Inspect school facilities for the purpose of ensuring it is suitable for safe operations and maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and identifying any repairs that may be necessary due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.

Prepare school and/or district facilities for daily operations (e.g., opening gates and building access doors, disarming security systems, turning on lights, raising flags, placing crosswalk signs, performing minor repairs, locking all doors, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring school facilities are operational and safe.

Secure school facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to the school district.

Service job-related machinery/equipment (e.g., adjusting, cleaning, and oiling vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in good working condition. Also changes brushes, pads, rollers, etc. on equipment.

Attend after-school events as scheduled, including but not limited to in-person faculty meetings, parent/family night events, and after-school athletic and special events duty as assigned.

If assigned to multiple locations, provide and follow consistently the daily schedule provided to direct supervisor, school principals, and applicable teachers.

Maintain confidentiality in all matters related the Allen Parish School Board.

Maintain professional personal appearance and demonstrate respect for colleagues.
-
Attend work regularly; report to work on time; and provide advance notice of need for absence.

Gain approval from the principal for any time off of work.

Check emails daily and reply to emails in a timely fashion.

Display proper respect for authority, receive and implement constructive criticism, avoid use of sarcasm and inappropriate behavior and language when dealing with others and serve as exceptional model for all.

Complete work efficiently and accurately (with few/no errors) within deadlines without supervision.

Wear Allen Parish School Board badge at all times.

Plan and deliver district and school-level professional development.

Support, implement, assist with, and/or ensure application of district initiatives and other programs or directives of the Superintendent and Board.

Keep the principal and/or direct supervisor informed of the progress being made in the area(s) of responsibility.

Keep abreast professionally by attending local, regional, state, or national meetings and/or staff development that address area(s) of responsibility as directed by the principal.
-
Collaborate with district leadership, administrators and teachers to analyze data, establish goals and develop plans with action steps and a means to monitor effectiveness.

Analyze data to make data-driven decisions

Complete and submit all forms, reports, documentation, and training by required dates and in accordance with district policies and procedures.

Remain open to suggestions and innovative ideas; receive and apply feedback.

Demonstrate competence in areas of responsibility.

Communicate appropriately face-to-face, through phone calls and electronic communication and work effectively with all populations.

Attend district meetings as needed or directed.

Attend back-to-school, orientation, stakeholder involvement, open-house, extracurricular events, co-curricular events as needed or directed.

Attend graduations, banquets, concerts and awards as needed or directed.

Attend school board and/or committee meetings as needed or directed.

Support crisis management plans during situations that warrant as needed or directed.

Exhibit desirable qualities such as commitment to job responsibilities, enthusiasm, cooperation, sense of humor, creativity, tact, positive attitude/work ethic, dependability, punctuality, self-discipline/ control, poise, voice control, effective nonverbal communication, a professional appearance, initiative, and a genuine concern and interest for others.

Follow the specific requirements established by the School Board (LEA), State Department of Education (SDE), the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (SBESE), and/or Federal regulations and guidelines established by each.

Perform any duty, not specifically assigned, as deemed necessary by the assigning authority in order to maintain continuity where needed.

Direct, coordinate, and/or supervise all students for whom you are responsible.

Visit, evaluate and support district facilities after inclement weather as needed or directed.\

Act as technical advisor and resource person to assist others in area(s) of responsibility.

Job description and duties subject to modification as needed. Perform such other tasks and assumes responsibilities as the Superintendent may assign.

Support the policies and procedures of the Allen Parish School Board.
