Job Description:
In order to support Database Architecture and Roadmap department, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Database Architect (d/f/m).
Do you have sound experience in Engineering and Data Management and are looking to anchor yourself at the heart of space exploration?
Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a high-level expert to join our Database Architecture and Roadmap department.
In this role, you aren’t just managing data; you are managing the "Single Source of Truth" for the entire Avionics engineering process. From On-Board Software configuration to Operations,
your work ensures that our space vehicles navigate the stars with absolute precision.
The Mission: Why Your Role Matters
At the core of our development process lies the Systems Engineering Database (SEDB). This central hub acts as the nervous system for our Avionics design. You will be responsible for the architecture, population, and validation of this critical repository, ensuring seamless delivery to internal teams and external partners like ESA.
Your Responsibilities
Architectural Leadership: Tailor SEDB architectures to project-specific needs, defining data formats, interfaces, and DB topologies.
End-to-End Management: Oversee and execute the population, consistency, and validation of database content.
Project & Team Lead: Manage the SEDB work package (schedule, cost, risk) and lead DB teams or subcontracted work packages on major projects.
Transnational Collaboration: Drive harmonization across our European sites (France, Germany, UK) and optimize the engineering process for upcoming new database tooling.
Stakeholder Interface: Act as the primary point of contact for internal AIT and external governmental and private customers
We are looking for a professional who thrives in complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Technical Mastery: Proven experience in data management, organization, and versioning systems (Git, SVN).
Software Fluency: At ease with programming in Java, C++, or other object-oriented languages.
Domain Expertise: Understanding of (software) engineering processes and the satellite development lifecycle.
Soft Skills: A proactive mindset, the ability to solve complex problems autonomously, and the capability to deal with uncertainty
Languages: Negotiation-level English.
Preferred Assets:
experience in one of the Avionics domains: OBSW, FVI, OPS, FDIR, or AOCS.
Experience with space vehicle engineering
Understanding of the satellite development cycle
Transnational Reach: Work in a transnational team of professional team across Toulouse, Immenstaad, and Stevenage.
Mobility: Opportunities for remote contribution or international relocation (temporary or indefinite).
Impact: A central role where your decisions directly affect the success of cutting-edge space missions.
Ready to define the future of space avionics? Apply now and help us build the data foundations for the next generation of space vehicles.
