Our core expertise lies in well design and the operation of drilling rigs for geothermal energy and lithium mining.

To strengthen our team at our Karlsruhe office location, we are looking for a full‑time (40 hours/week), permanent Drilling & Well Data Engineer (m/f/d).

Your mission

  • Design, development and operation of reliable data pipelines for drilling and well operations
  • Collection, processing and quality assurance of real‑time rig data, including sensor and time‑series data
  • Implementation and monitoring of automated data flows from rig systems to central data platforms
  • Development and validation of machine‑learning models,eg for drilling parameter prediction
  • Analysis of daily drilling and operational data to identify performance, safety and cost deviations
  • Creation of data‑driven insights to optimize drilling performance
  • Development of automated operational cost‑tracking solutions
  • Establish solid data orchestration & data warehousing procedures
  • Development, maintenance and continuous optimization of analytics, reporting and dashboard workflows
  • Documentation of data models, pipelines and analytical outputs for operational use

Your profile

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a comparable technical field
  • Experience in data engineering, ideally in industrial or energy‑related environments
  • Hands‑on experience in developing, training and operationalizing machine‑learning models
  • Experienced in building data models for cost tracking and project controlling
  • Ability to structure, process and analyze large and heterogeneous datasets
  • Working with cloud platforms (AWS)
  • Strong analytical mindset and structured problem‑solving skills
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
  • Basic understanding of drilling & well operations and key drilling parameters
Specifically:
  • Solid expertise in SQL and experience with relational as well as time‑series databases
  • Strong proficiency in Python (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, Scikit‑learn), 
  • Integrated LLMs into data workflows to automate the extraction of structured data from unstructured sources.
  • Developed automated pipelines utilizing Prompt Engineering and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) to enhance data accessibility.
  • Leveraging AI tools (e.g., GitHub, Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate code documentation, unit testing, and SQL optimization
