Job description
Your mission
We are seeking a highly skilled Power Electronics Hardware Engineer (all genders) to design, develop, and validate high-performance power control and conversion hardware. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in power electronics design, component selection, simulation, PCB design, testing, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and cost-effective power solutions.Your Day-to-Day
- Design and develop power electronics hardware including power distribution & protection units, solid-state power controllers and DC-DC converters.
- Capture requirements and manage them systematically in a traceable way.
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs for power electronic systems.
- Perform circuit analysis, simulations, and design optimization (thermal, EMI/EMC, efficiency, reliability).
- Select and qualify power components such as Power MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC/GaN devices, magnetics, and passive components.
- Lead prototype build, bring-up, debugging, and validation testing.
- Conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards (UL, IEC, ISO, etc.).
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, procurement and quality teams.
- Support production ramp-up, manufacturing test development, and field issue resolution.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, test reports, and design reviews.
Your profile
- Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Strong background in power electronics theory and practical hardware design.
- Experience with electrical protection, power semiconductors, converter topologies and control methods.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, KiCad).
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, power analysers, electronic loads).
- Solid understanding of electronics packaging, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and safety design.
- Ability to debug complex hardware issues independently.
- Experience with wide bandgap semiconductors (SiC, GaN).
- Familiarity with simulation tools (LTspice, PLECS, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Knowledge of high-voltage and high-power systems.
- Experience with DO-254 process.
- Experience with aerospace & defence standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704).
