Your Role
As (Senior) Analyst Higher Education at Statista R, you will join our international team of data professionals, supporting the analytical backbone of Statista R’s education division.
Your work will focus on identifying global education trends and making them quantifiable, defining analytical models together with the data team and developing new rankings and products around the education space.
Your work will include the identification, collection, and analysis of education data that power our Rankings, Ratings, and Benchmarking projects, as well as the development of new, data-driven products.
In Benchmarking projects in close exchange with education institutions and other stakeholders you will be part of an interdisciplinary project team that measures education impact.
Your work will directly support Statista’s mission to make education quality measurable, comparable, and actionable - globally.
Your Responsibilities
Contribute to and - with growing experience - own core components of Statista R's education rankings, from indicator design and metric calibration to scoring frameworks and results validation
Develop, document, and refine data models and normalization approaches in alignment with current academic research, working closely with the analyst team
Evaluate data sources and data providers (e.g., bibliometric databases, international education statistics) to strengthen the empirical foundation of our products
Support and - at the Senior level - drive strategic partnerships with higher education institutions, data providers, and other stakeholders to ensure structured data disclosure and transparency
Build and maintain frameworks for monitoring global higher education trends, tracking academic publications, policy developments, and the evolving data provider landscape
Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in our current products and actively contribute ideas for new data-driven education offerings
Contribute to - and at the Senior level, lead - interdisciplinary project teams that measure and benchmark education impact
Share methodological knowledge within the team; Senior Analysts are additionally expected to provide structured guidance and mentoring to junior team members
Your Profile
Master's degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Education/Social Science or a related field
Analyst: 2+ years of relevant experience | Senior Analyst: 4+ years of relevant experience.
Background in higher education evaluation, institutional research, education strategy, or education consulting - ideally within a university, governmental agency, research organization, or consultancy
Experience translating analytical findings into actionable, data-driven recommendations; at the Senior level, demonstrated experience communicating these to senior decision-makers
Track record of contributing to - and at the Senior level, managing - analytical projects from conception through delivery
Good understanding of statistical methods and quantitative analysis; at the Senior level, this extends to experience with data normalization, composite indicators, or scoring methodologies
Familiarity with tools such as Excel (advanced), or Python / R for data cleaning, analysis, and visualization
Fluent in English (written and spoken); German or other additional languages (e.g. Chinese, Spanish) a strong plus
Strong analytical mindset, structured working style, and genuine curiosity about education and data
Motivated to work in an international, cross-functional environment
