Job description
Why Sintra?
50,000+ small business owners use Sintra every day. Not because it's another SaaS tool — but because our AI helpers actually feel like teammates. They reply to customers, post on social media, analyze data, and much more. For someone running a business alone, this is the first time they've had help that actually helps.
We've built something people care about. Now we need to make it great.
Quick summary: Sintra is an AI business platform where teams of AI helpers run autonomously - managing workflows, interacting with users, and executing tasks across dozens of integrated services. Reliability here is product quality: when an AI helper stalls mid-task or a workflow silently fails, users feel it directly. We're looking for an SRE who treats uptime and performance as engineering problems, not just operational ones. You'll own the reliability posture of the platform end-to-end - from infrastructure through deployment pipelines to production observability.
What you'll do
Define and own service level objectives across Sintra's core platform services, and use error budgets to balance reliability investment against feature velocity.
Build and maintain production observability - metrics, logging, distributed tracing - so failures are visible, debuggable, and actionable before users report them.
Lead incident response: on-call rotation, structured postmortems, and systematic follow-through that actually closes the loop.
Own the CI/CD pipeline and deployment process - safe rollouts, canary deployments, automated rollback, and release health checks.
Automate toil: identify manual operational work and replace it with reliable, well-tested systems.
Partner with product engineers to embed reliability requirements - SLOs, failure modes, graceful degradation - into new features from the design stage.
Maintain runbooks, incident playbooks, and operational documentation to a standard that lets any engineer handle an alert at 3am.
Capacity plan for growth: model traffic, identify bottlenecks, and scale infrastructure ahead of demand.
Who we're looking for
4+ years in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering in a production environment
Hands-on experience with AWS and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, or equivalent) at scale.
Infrastructure as code fluency - Terraform, Pulumi, or similar - treating infrastructure changes like software changes.
Strong observability skills: you know how to instrument a service, build useful dashboards, and write alerts that fire when they should and stay quiet when they shouldn't.
Experience owning incident response end-to-end: response, coordination, postmortem, and follow-up.
Comfortable writing automation in Python, Go, or Bash; you reach for code before clicking through a UI.
Solid understanding of distributed systems and how they fail - networking, storage, queuing, service dependencies.
Clear communicator who can translate system behavior into plain language for product and engineering peers.
