Job description
đ Weâre on a mission to make money work for everyone.
Weâre waving goodbye to the complicated and confusing ways of traditional banking.
After starting as a prepaid card, our product offering has grown a lot in the last 10 years in the UK. As well as personal and business bank accounts, we offer joint accounts, accounts for 16-17 year olds, a free kids account and credit cards in the UK, with more exciting things to come beyond. Our UK customers can also save, invest and combine their pensions with us.Â
With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers!
Weâre not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo â€ïž
Â
đBarcelona or Madrid, Spain  | đ° âŹ51,000 - âŹ62,000, Incentive Awards tied to your performance â benefits | Hear from the team âš
âOur Writer team
Monzoâs coming to Spain, and we need a writer who can take our iconic brand voice and make it feel at home there. This isn't just about changing pounds into euros. Itâs about deep product localisation and high-impact storytelling. Weâd expect you to know what Spanish people are watching on a Tuesday night and doing on the weekend, and to weave that sort of hyper local knowledge into your writing.Â
As our first dedicated Writer for the Spanish market, youâll be the bridge between our global writing standards and local cultural nuances. You will work at the intersection of Product, Marketing, and Legal to ensure every word we publish â whether itâs a tiny button in the app or a giant billboard in Madrid â is clear, compliant, and unmistakably Monzo.
đYouâll play a key role by...
- Seeking out and owning high impact work: Youâd be trusted as a leader on the ground, taking the initiative to suggest guidance and processes within the Spanish team (not just responding to briefs).Â
- Finessing our product experience: Youâll write and edit in-app text for new features, customer onboarding, and notifications, ensuring a seamless and locally relevant user experience (UX).
- Adapting our tone: Youâll serve as the local ToV champion, expertly adapting our global guidelines to resonate with Spanish humor, dialect, and consumer expectations.
- Crafting campaigns: Youâll provide fast-turnaround support for the Spain Marketing Lead, crafting creative copy for social media, email, OOH, and SEO content.
- Navigating compliance: Working closely with our legal teams, youâll ensure all communications are compliant with Spanish financial regulations and cultural sensitivities.
- Collaborating across teams: Youâll partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to ensure content is a driver of our launch timeline, not a bottleneck.
- Accelerating our growth in Spain: By building trust through clear, locally resonant copy, youâll help us improve onboarding conversion, reduce customer friction, and safeguard the brand during its most critical launch phase.
đ€© Weâd love to hear from you ifâŠ
- You are a seasoned pro: You have at least 5 years of experience in product and marketing writing.
- You understand complexity: You can take a complex fintech product and explain it simply. Experience in financial services or another regulated industry is a huge plus.
- You are a dual threat: You are equally comfortable writing a punchy marketing headline as you are mapping out a technical UX flow.
- You are autonomous: Youâre used to managing multiple stakeholders and can ship high-quality work without constant oversight.
- You are an advocate for the user: You refuse to talk down to people and believe that "legalese" has no place in a modern bank.
đWhatâs in it for you
đ°A salary range of âŹ51,000 - âŹ62,000 â Incentive Awards tied to your performance.
đThis role will have a hybrid working model, based in our Barcelona/Madrid office 2 - 3 days a week, however, you will be expected to travel to Monzoâs head offices in Dublin and/or London from time to time.
â°We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, and at times that suit you and your team.Â
đ Annual Leave - 38 days including public holidays
đâŹ1,200 learning budget each year to use on books, training courses and conferences.
đ„Private healthcare scheme
đWellbeing benefits: financial education, womenâs and menâs health support, mental health benefits, including coaching and counselling
đ The application journey has 4 key steps
- An introductory call with a Monzo Recruiter
- An initial call with the Hiring Manager
- A take home task
- A final round of role specific and behavioural interviews with relevant stakeholders
This process should take around 2-3 weeks - your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible!Â
We have some guidelines on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ace an application and interview at Monzo. You can read them here.
Weâll only close this role once we have enough applications for the next stage. Please submit your application as soon as possible to make sure you donât miss out.Â
If you're successful in applying for this role, we'll work with you to find a start date. In some cases, there might be a delay in when you can be released from your current role so that we can make sure things continue to run smoothly. Weâll be sure to communicate this with you and keep you updated.
