Senior Python Developer (Django, Wagtail)

JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for a Senior Python Django Developer who has been involved in a wide range of impactful projects and knows how to help clients achieve their goals at scale.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Senior Developer, you understand that there is rarely a single solution to a problem. With your experience, you identify, evaluate, and implement the solution that best aligns with client needs, technical constraints, and long-term sustainability. You are confident explaining complex technical decisions in clear, accessible language to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You take ownership of projects from concept to delivery, proactively identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement early in the process. You play a key role in shaping architecture, improving internal processes, and ensuring high-quality standards across all deliverables.
You are also a mentor to other developers, supporting junior and mid-level team members in their growth while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Alongside working on your own projects, you collaborate closely with front-end developers, designers, and external partners in integrated sprint teams to deliver exceptional digital products.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- a minimum of 4 years of Python backend web development experience (agency or product environment preferred)
- Strong experience with Django
- Experience with Wagtail CMS (or similar CMS platforms) is a plus
- Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable APIs consumed by multiple third parties
- Experience with complex system integrations across multiple external vendors
- Experience with Git and modern development workflows
- Solid understanding of database design, optimisation, and administration
- Strong experience with testing and quality assurance (unit, integration, etc.)
- Ability to own projects end-to-end, from planning through to delivery and support
- Experience identifying issues early and proactively suggesting improvements to internal processes and workflows
- Confidence to challenge assumptions, contribute to technical discussions, and collaborate with external teams and vendors
- Experience mentoring junior and mid-level developers, providing guidance, code reviews, and technical leadership across projects
- A team-player mindset with strong initiative and leadership qualities
- Working proficiency in English
