What you’ll work on
Batene is a research-driven deep-tech startup in battery technology and a spin-off of the Max Planck Society. We develop new materials and processes for the next generation of batteries, with a strong focus on research, scale-up, and industrial application.As we grow, the need for robust structures, reliable processes, and professional operations grows with us. For our Finance, People, Legal, and Business Operations areas, we are looking for someone who takes operational ownership, thinks ahead, and drives topics through to implementation.
Your core areas of responsibility are:
Finance Operations & Grants
- Preparatory accounting, invoice checks, and project allocation
- Cash overviews, basic forecasting, and preparation of monthly and annual closings
- Operational support of public funding and grant projects, including documentation and reporting
- Operational ownership of the HR system (Personio)
- Contract and deadline management as well as structured document management
- Support of HR, governance, and committee processes
- Contribution to organizational and process improvement initiatives
- Support in the introduction of tools and cross-functional operational topics
What you bring
You have several years of professional experience in an operational role within Finance, Operations, or HR and enjoy working independently on complex topics with clear responsibility.Specifically, we are looking fort:
- Several years of professional experience (approx. 4–8 years) in Operations, Finance, HR, or a comparable function
- Confidence in working with numbers as well as administrative and organizational processes
- Strong structuring and documentation skills
- A high degree of independence, reliability, and discretion
- Very good German skills, both written and spoken
- Good working proficiency in English
- Experience with accounting or finance tools, e.g. DATEV or comparable systems
- Basic understanding of project or public funding / grants controlling
- Experience with HR systems such as Personio
- Experience in startups, research organizations, or growth-oriented environments
