We are seeking a highly motivated Master’s Thesis Student (M/F/D) to join our R&D team in Munich to work at the frontier of computer science and cyber security.

Objective: harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect and prevent real-world cryptographic vulnerabilities.

Cryptography may be secure in theory, but in practice even a single subtle coding error can undermine security of an entire system. With the rise of advanced AI systems, especially Large Language Models (LLMs), we now have unprecedented tools to analyse source code, detect cryptographic weaknesses, and even propose hardened improvements.

Your thesis will directly contribute to this emerging research field and address such questions as:

• Can AI consistently recognize subtle weaknesses in cryptographic implementations?

• Can AI lead developers toward secure, high-assurance cryptographic code?

Key Objectives

• Design and implement a tool chain that evaluates and validates AI-assisted cryptographic coding

• Define test scenarios, use cases, and representative code bases for assessing multiple AI systems

• Experiment, benchmark, and optimize AI-driven analysis and code improvement workflows

• Generate publishable research insights and contribute to an ongoing R&D project

Knowledge, skills and experience required

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

• Foundational knowledge in Machine Learning, AI, LLMs

• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python

• Understanding of secure-coding principles

• Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and protocols (strong plus)

• Proficient in written and spoken English.
