We are currently looking for a highly motivated Senior Engineer Advanced Technology (M/F/D) in the field of Mechanics and Packaging to join our Advanced Technology team in Berlin, Germany. As a Senior Engineer Mechanics and Packaging, you will play a key role in developing, designing and validating precision mechanics for electro-optical test-setups and next-generation transceiver packages. You will help design advanced test methods, optimize lab environments, and contribute to cutting-edge research projects that shape the future of optical communication technologies.
Principle duties and essential functions
Definition and design of mechanical building blocks and test stations for evaluation of chip- and package-level optical transceiver component
Interfacing with contract manufacturers for fabrication of mechanical parts according to requirements
CAD of mechanical parts and simulation/optimization of thermal and mechanical properties on component and system level
Development of packaging and housing solutions for electro-optical components and support of assembly processes
Act as internal subproject lead for advanced R&D initiatives
Present technical results at internal reviews, conferences, and stakeholder meetings
Support the transfer of research outcomes into product development
Knowledge, skills and experience required
Master’s or Diploma in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or related field
3+ years of work experience (industrial experience preferred)
Proficiency in CAD, thermal and mechanical simulation tools (e.g. Ansys)
Experience in packaging of optical or electronic components
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (German is a plus)
Strategic thinker with an innovative and proactive mindset
Experience with integrated circuits and micro-optical/photonic components (preferable)
Familiarity with assembly and packaging/SMT processes (of advantage)
Knowledge of test and qualification processes of high-speed optical transceivers (preferable)
