Primary Function of Position:
The engineer in this position will play a key role in the vision equipment software team to enable efficient manufacturing and R&D of new camera modules for surgical robots. The position will be responsible for the design, development, release, deploy, document, sustain, and rapid prototype of software and algorithms for test and calibration of the camera modules for multiport da Vinci systems. The position requires close collaboration with optical design teams, systems analysts, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality engineers to build a coherent test and calibration strategy and develop software to implement the same. This position works at our Biebertal, Germany, facility.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prototyping, Design, develop, release, deploy, and document software applications for the test and calibration of camera modules for multiport da Vinci robotic systems.
- Develop, integrate, and implement image processing and closely related algorithms for testing and calibration of camera modules.
- Work closely with system/embedded software team to create and maintain new APIs to support test and calibration.
- Builds and maintain software infrastructures for rapid development of camera module test and calibration fixtures.
- Understand new product’s operation and control and develop the means to ensure their integrity in volume production.
- Strive to create software that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable in manufacturing new vision systems.
- Work independently to overcome roadblocks with minimum guidance.
- Work independently and take ownership of manufacturing software and work with cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion.
- Write V&V protocols, lead V&V execution, and write V&V reports for equipment and processes.
- Leverage data acquisition to enable quality measurement tools such as SPC, Six Sigma, Cpk, and gauge R&R
- Lead cross-functional projects focused on process and equipment development. Serve as mentor for early-career engineers in the group.
- Support existing production fixtures and software applications
