We are creating a brand-new engineering domain: Revenue Technology (RevTech). This domain will own the full commercial technology stack that powers how the items in our assortment are selected for each hub, how they are priced, how promotions and retail media campaigns are managed, and how product data flows through the organization. It sits alongside our Consumer Tech, Operations Tech, and Platform domains.
As the Associate Director of Engineering - RevTech (m/f/d), you will be the founding engineering leader of this domain. Paired with our VP of Revenue, who leads the domain from the Product side, you will shape the technical vision, hire and grow the teams, and deliver the systems that directly drive Flink's gross profit and assortment relevance. This is a rare opportunity to build a domain from the ground up inside a company with real scale, real customers, and real urgency.
What You Will Do
Lead the RevTech engineering organization. You will inherit a small group of engineers transferring from existing domains and grow it into a cohesive, high-performing group across multiple product teams — including Assortment, Master Data & ERP, Pricing & Promotions, and Commercial Back-office.
Partner with the VP of Revenue to own the domain roadmap. Together you will prioritize across teams, balance build-vs-buy decisions, and ensure the engineering investment maps tightly to commercial outcomes like use-case coverage, GP per category, and pricing automation.
Hire and develop engineering managers and engineers. Several key roles, including an EM for Pricing & Promotions, backend and frontend engineers, and a data scientist, are open and waiting for you to shape and fill. You will also manage the relationship with an external development partner building some of our systems, ensuring quality, architecture alignment, and a clean path to internalization.
Drive technical excellence in a greenfield-meets-brownfield context. Some systems are being built from scratch; others are being transferred and evolved. You will define the technical strategy that brings coherence to this landscape — shared APIs, data contracts, service boundaries, and on-call practices across small but critical teams.
Navigate a matrix organization. Engineers functionally report into the CTO organization while being embedded in the RevTech domain. You will work closely with fellow Engineering Directors in Consumer Tech, Operations Tech, and Platform to maintain cross-domain standards, coordinate shared services, and ensure a consistent engineering culture.
Champion AI and automation across the commercial stack. RevTech's core mission is to optimize processes via intelligent systems — from data-driven assortment engines and automated pricing to product data enrichment and demand forecasting. You will identify where AI and machine learning can create step-change improvements, partner with our Data Science team to bring models into production, and foster a culture where the team continuously leverages AI to multiply its impact.
Represent engineering in commercial conversations. RevTech sits at the intersection of technology, category management, and revenue strategy. You'll regularly engage with non-technical stakeholders — Revenue, Marketing, Supply Chain — and translate their challenges into well-scoped engineering problems.
