As Head of Finance, you will take on both operational and strategic financial responsibility in a fast-growing tech company in its early scaling phase. Your focus will be on building a scalable finance infrastructure, implementing professional reporting processes, and preparing well-founded budgets and forecasts. You will work strategically, yet hands-on, laying the foundation for future growth.
Your mission
Reporting & Controlling- Development and implementation of a professional, transparent reporting system for management and investors
- Establishment of a strategic, functional controlling system with relevant SaaS KPIs (CAC, LTV, Churn, ARR, MRR, Unit Economics)
- Regular analysis of business performance and derivation of concrete recommendations, including support in optimizing the revenue engine (sales targets, quotas, commission models)
- Analysis of customer relationships, margin profiles, and support in contract processes
- Preparation of detailed budgets and business plans
- Responsibility for rolling forecasts and liquidity planning
- Development of planning scenarios to support strategic decisions
- Monitoring and management of budget compliance
- Development and optimization of scalable business processes that integrate seamlessly into future-proof finance processes
- Implementation and optimization of finance tools and systems that grow with the company
- Ensuring accurate and efficient integration of accounting processes
- Responsibility for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to HGB in cooperation with tax
- Communication with investors, auditors, and tax advisors
- Supporting management in strategic finance matters
- Preparation for future financing rounds or exit processes
- Building and leading a finance team over time
- Close collaboration with other departments to establish a data-driven culture
Your profile
Must-have- Completed degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Controlling
- 3 years of professional experience and initial leadership experience in finance, ideally in tech, SaaS, or scale-up environments
- Proven experience in building reporting systems and finance processes
- Solid knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Confident use of tools in both controlling and accounting (Excel/Google Sheets, Power BI or similar BI tools, accounting software)
- Strong hands-on mentality – you take initiative and are not afraid of operational work
- Analytical thinking and the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights
- Experience with funding
- Knowledge of grant and funding acquisition
- Experience in implementing finance systems
- Legal expertise in the areas of corporate governance, corporate law, and contract law, preferably gained through professional experience in a legal environment
