Your mission
We are looking for a proactive and highly organised R&D Support and Knowledge Management Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in the running of War Child Alliance’s Research & Development department. Your mission will be to support the department to run efficiently and help ensure strong linkages between R&D and the Communication, Technical, HR and Finance teams. Your role will be to provide administrative support to the Director and department, manage internal R&D knowledge and resources, coordinate liaison within and across departments, and support the identification and tracking of funding opportunities relevant to R&D’s work.
What you will do:Administrative support - Including organising meetings and workshops and note-taking, coordinating review and finalisation of key documents, supporting recruitment and procurement processes, and supporting travel arrangements where applicable
Knowledge management of internal R&D documents and resources- Including review and finalisation of a filing system, ensuring resources are available to all researchers and others in the organisation as needed, and keeping systems up to date
Liaison within and across department(s)- Including coordination and communication across R&Ds thematic teams and departments, and support for recruitments, financial reporting, and communications.
- Focal point for R&D communication efforts
Support for identification and tracking of funding opportunities relevant for R&D- Including monitoring relevant funding calls and opportunities, maintaining overview of deadlines and where applicable coordinate input for proposal development.
Your profile
Education / degree: Experience: - One year experience in administrative role.
Knowledge: - Demonstrable knowledge of NGO and/or development sector
- At least one year’s work experience in business or grant administration, project monitoring, project management, or similar.
- At least one year’s experience working in the international development sector, with experience in conflict or post-conflict settings a plus.
- Financial/operational/logistics background and experience is an advantage.
Skills:- Excellent administrative and organisational skills; has an eye for detail
- Team-player with experience in providing support to others
- Ability to work independently, and proactively identify where support in needed
- Good time management and ability to set priorities
- Fluent in English language, both spoken and written and preferable French and/or Arabic.
- Cultural and organisational sensitivity.
- Flexible, pro-active, custom- and result-oriented.
What we offer
- Location : We work with global teams with team members being based in different locations. War Child is currently operates in: Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, Colombia, DR Congo, Germany, Jordan, Lebanon, the occupied Palestinian territory, South Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Uganda, Ukraine (soon to be registered), and Yemen. We also have offices in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Preference is given to applicants who reside and have valid working permits. War Child does not offer relocation.
- Type of Contract : Local contract with salary and secondary labour conditions based on the in-country salary scale, local T&C's will apply.
- Time commitment: The role will initially be for 28-32 hours/week.
