About the role

Help shape how renewable generation creates real market value. As a Working Student in our Optimisation Renewables & Forecasting team, you’ll help build and improve the digital systems that guide short‑term trading decisions and unlock the performance of our wind and solar portfolio across continental Europe. You’ll be embedded in a high‑energy commercial team, learning fast and seeing your work directly influence outcomes.

• Develop and maintain tools and systems for production forecasting and short‑term optimisation of wind and solar assets
• Build automated, interactive dashboards to visualise analysis and monitoring for quick, data‑driven decisions
• Apply analytical and AI‑driven optimisation methods to improve forecasting accuracy and trading performance
• Collaborate with portfolio managers and colleagues across RWEST, Renewables and the wider RWE Group
• Present insights clearly to a wide range of stakeholders, turning data into actions
• Grow your commercial renewables understanding while contributing ideas that enhance how we work

 

Job requirements and experience

• Enrolled in a quantitative degree (e.g. mathematics, engineering, computer science, finance) with at least one year remaining
• Hands‑on experience writing SQL queries, plus data analysis and scripting in Python or R
• Familiarity with data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI or Tableau)
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail
• Proactive, collaborative mindset with the confidence to take ownership
• Fluency in English

 

Advantageous, but not essential

• German language skills; additional languages welcome
