Ready to make a paws-itive impact in the pet world? 🐾
Join Lassie, the InsurTech company taking the Swedish, German, and French pet markets by storm! We’ve just secured a whopping $ 75 million in Series C funding, and we’re on a mission to provide the best pet insurance solutions out there. Our goal? To ensure every furry friend gets the care they deserve, and their owners get peace of mind.
We are looking for a Legal Working Student to support our growing business with day-to-day legal questions across the company. As Lassie scales across Europe, more and more legal questions come up across the business - from our Operations team handling claims and customer requests to Marketing launching new campaigns. Our Legal & Compliance team supports all of them, and we need a sharp, motivated working student to help us keep up with the growing demand for clear, practical legal guidance.
This is a great opportunity to join a high-performing team, take ownership end-to-end, and shape how we build as we scale.
📍 Location: Berlin (Onsite)
This position reports directly to our Legal Counsel and offers hands-on experience across a broad range of legal topics in a fast-growing, regulated startup environment. You will work closely with teams across the business, supporting areas such as Operations, answering real questions about insurance contracts, policy terms, and customer-facing legal issues every day. On top of that, you'll support Marketing, People, and other teams on compliance and commercial legal topics.
From day one, you'll take ownership of tasks and contribute to real business challenges, while building a strong understanding of how Legal enables a scaling company.
In this role, you will:
Act as a reliable go-to within the Legal & Compliance team for daily operational tasks such as research, template management, and internal guidance
Support our Operations team on day-to-day legal questions - this includes advising Claims and Customer Success on topics such as insurance contract interpretation, policy coverage questions, customer complaints, and general contractual disputes
Conduct structured legal research on a variety of topics (e.g. insurance law & regulation, contract law, data protection, consumer protection) and translate findings into clear, practical guidance
Draft, review, and update commercial contracts, internal policies, and compliance documentation
Maintain and improve our legal templates, playbooks, and internal knowledge base, helping us build scalable legal processes
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the business to support legally sound decision-making in a fast-paced environment
Currently enrolled in Law, Business Law, Compliance, or a related field
Genuine interest in working in a fast-growing startup environment, ideally with some exposure to regulated industries (insurance, fintech, or similar)
Basic understanding of legal topics such as contract law, data protection (e.g. GDPR), or consumer protection is a plus
Structured, detail-oriented, and reliable - you deliver quality work, even when things move fast
Strong analytical skills and the ability to break down complex legal questions into clear, practical outcomes
Hands-on mentality with a proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of tasks early on
You can explain legal topics in a way that non-lawyers understand and enjoy working directly with business stakeholders
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information responsibly
Strong written and verbal communication skills in German and English
Confident use of Google Workspace
Interest in using AI tools for research and structuring work
A flexible, dynamic, and welcoming company culture
A collaborative, international working environment
Working on a unique product that helps pets live longer, healthier lives
Regular social events and team-building activities
Chance to directly shape Lassie’s journey as we grow across Europe
We are an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at Lassie. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.
