Engineering Team Leader

We are currently looking for an Engineering Team Leader in Germany.This role offers the opportunity to lead a small, high-performing engineering team while actively contributing to product development. You will guide, coach, and mentor engineers, fostering a collaborative and motivated environment that encourages growth and innovation. Balancing hands-on development with leadership responsibilities, you will help shape team dynamics, optimize workflows, and ensure efficient delivery of high-quality software. The role includes hiring and onboarding new team members, managing performance, and driving a culture of continuous improvement. You will operate in a fully remote, asynchronous environment that values autonomy, innovation, and a people-first approach. This position is ideal for a leader who enjoys both technical engagement and empowering others to excel.

Accountabilities:

Lead and manage a team of 3–5 engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and constructive feedback

Act as the spokesperson for the team, ensuring strong team dynamics and a supportive, high-performance culture

Participate in product development, contributing actively alongside the team while dedicating ~30% of time to leadership responsibilities

Oversee hiring processes, onboarding, and career development for team members

Foster continuous improvement in engineering practices, workflows, and collaboration

Promote alignment with organizational values, team goals, and broader engineering strategies

Support cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient execution and delivery

Requirements:

Proven experience managing an engineering team of at least 2 people

Strong backend development expertise, ideally with Elixir/Phoenix or comparable technologies

Solid knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and modern development workflows

Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire confidence in the team

Strong understanding of team dynamics and ability to cultivate a collaborative environment

Highly organized with attention to detail and focus on efficient processes
