Job Description

This is customer facing Application Engineer position in our Teledyne PSG Global Technical Services team. This exciting opportunity can expose you to new products and technology years before reaching the consumer market. The purpose of this position is to support our customers using the industry’s leading-edge test and measurement products for serial protocols like PCIe, USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, Bluetooth.

Top engineering teams around the globe use our products to develop and verify next-generation consumer electronics and computer products and we need someone who provide frontline technical assistance and advice to multiple customers. The Applications Engineer will work marketing teams, sales teams, engineering teams and test teams both in China and USA. Through hands-on learning, studying technical specifications, and mentoring, you will develop expertise in high-speed serial protocols and in our instruments that test and validate these protocols. Ultimately this will enable you to become one of the world’s elite experts in this field.

This role will be based remote with access to our Heidelberg Germany office, supporting and visiting customers or attending industry events across Europe.  

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide pre- and post-sales technical support for Protocol Solutions group product lines.
• Respond to customer queries and requests for help using the support tracking system by web, email and phone.
• Utilize Protocol Analyzers and other test and measurement equipment
• Provide Technical Training in support of out products to new and existing customers or at industry events.
• Collaborate with other team members: sales engineering, marketing, application engineering and product development teams
• Maintain and develop relationships with customers and key decision makers
• Contribute new product proposals for product roadmaps, validate new product releases, champion customer needs in product development
• Attend and Represent Teledyne LeCroy at industry events.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Requirements:

• BSEE/BCCS, bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electronics/ electrical engineering/ relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Customer support experience
• Great communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong analytical /problem solving skills, proactive problem solver
• Comfortable interfacing with customers and being part of the Sales process
• Good understanding of Sales cycle and customer decision making and development cycle
• Knowledge of electrical and electronics principles
• Basic understanding of computer network configuration and protocols
• Work within organizational policies and practices
• Experience using test instruments (e.g. compliance testers, digital video/audio analyzers)
• Familiarity with a Windows operating environment
• Ability to travel (up to 50% of the time)
• Ability to obtain necessary documentation to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Skills:

• Standards Compliance Testing /validation experience
• Serial protocol knowledge especially in PCIe, CXL, USB2, USB3, USB4, SAS, SATA. HDMI, Displayport, UFS, Bluetooth, Wifi, CSI, DSI, USB-PD.
• Experience using test instruments
• Foreign language skills
• Hardware/Software testing experience
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Foreign language skills ideal but not required
