Your mission
The Legal Officer provides legal expertise to support War Child鈥檚 contracting, governance, and regulatory compliance across its operations. The role ensure that agreements, policies, and corporate documentation are legally sound and aligned with operational processes, enabling the organisation to manage risk and operate effectively across multiple jurisdictions.
What you will do:

Contract Drafting and Review

Developing standard contract templates (partner agreement, social franchising, coalition agreement, R&D agreement)

Providing ad hoc advice on contracts (fundraising agreements, partner and donor agreements, commercial contracts, IT agreements)
-
Risk identification and management
-
Mapping and clarifying internal processes
-
Internal stakeholder engagement
Supporting the registration of new branch offices
-
Liaising with local lawyers and country teams to confirm registration requirements
-
Drafting and executing corporate approvals
-
Drafting documentation for government authorities聽
Policy development and advice:
-
Support the developing of internal policies (Intellectual Property Policy, Contracting Policy, Counterterrorism and Anti-Money Laundering Policy

Advising on other internal policies

Risk identification and management
-
Mapping and clarifying internal processes

Internal stakeholder engagement
-
Engaging with local lawyers
Corporate governance administration:

Preparation and certification of powers of attorney

Developing and maintaining corporate registers: Country registrations and licenses and Powers of attorney

Your profile
Education
- University education in Law and least five years of professional experience as a commercial / contract lawyer
Experience
- Experience in the humanitarian sector
Languages
- Fluency in English and drafting English language contracts
Knowledge

Expert in contract law, contract drafting, and the development of contract templates

Expert in drafting clear, practical, contracts that reflect operational processes and risks

Expert knowledge and experience in: sanctions and counter-terrorism laws, intellectual property law, personal data protection law, corporate governance

Expert in risk identification and development of risk mitigation / management strategies

Understanding legal concepts and language

Strong knowledge of organizational processes
