At Valmet’s Fiber Technology Center (FTC) in Sundsvall, you will join a skilled and supportive team performing laboratory analyses, bench-scale experiments, and field work at customer sites around the world. Our work spans chemical and mechanical pulp, biorefinery concepts, and emerging recycled textile fiber technologies, supporting the growing circular fiber industry.
As a Laboratory Engineer, you will collaborate closely with laboratory specialists, research engineers, and process experts. You will contribute to high-impact experiments that support both development projects and customer-focused work. You will prepare samples, conduct routine and advanced analyses, design experiments, and ensure our laboratory stays safe, efficient, and quality-driven.

Your responsibilities

You will conduct experiments that test hypotheses and support process improvements while working independently and with research engineers.

You will operate and maintain laboratory instruments and ensure they remain in reliable working condition.

You will prepare samples, run routine tests, analyze data, and verify the validity of results using clear analytical reasoning.

You will develop and validate testing or analysis methods in close cooperation with internal experts.
What we expect from you

You have a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Science or a degree in engineering, chemistry, biology or a similar technical field.

You have experience working with laboratory instruments and established analytical methods.

You have knowledge of laboratory safety standards and quality control procedures.

You have strong documentation and problem-solving skills supported by attention to detail.

You have very good communication skills in both Swedish and English, spoken and written.

You are available to travel to customer sites worldwide, at least three times per year.
To succeed in this role, you will require the following:
You have a solid understanding of laboratory analysis, sample handling, and data interpretation. You are comfortable working with varied materials and testing methods and can collaborate effectively with multiple technical teams.
