Main purpose
To supervise and coordinate WSMD operations across the full commodity handling cycle — including receipt, conditioning, blending, and shipping — ensuring all activities are executed in compliance with Trafigura's operational standards, contractual requirements, and applicable regulations.
The Operational Controller acts as the primary on-the-ground point of control, responsible for the accuracy of weight and quality determinations, the integrity of outturn reporting, and the effective coordination between warehouses, laboratories, and third-party surveyors. The role plays a critical part in minimising operational risk, ensuring timely execution of instructions, and maintaining the quality of data that feeds into commercial and financial decisions.
Key responsibilities

Supervise weighing, sampling, moisture determination and sample preparation activities.

Verify compliance with instructions sent to the warehouse and/or surveyors regarding Reception, Conditioning, Blending, and Shipping operations.

Daily communication with warehouse, laboratories and surveyors.

Follow up to operational KPI.

Monitoring of daily reports from warehouse and surveyors.

Issuance of outturn reports of each operation.
Required qualifications

1+ year of relevant experience

Engineering & Technical Academic Background (Degree in Metallurgy or Chemistry is preferred)

Sound understanding of weight and quality risk management

Solid knowledge of physical logistics and operations across ports, mines, smelters, and warehouses, including loading and discharge procedures
