About the role
The Application & Tendering Engineer is responsible for developing technical and commercial solutions for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, supporting the preparation of competitive bids and tenders.
The role combines process understanding, application engineering, and tendering activities, with a strong focus on selecting, designing, and integrating treatment technologies based on customer requirements, project constraints, and applicable standards.
The engineer acts as a technical interface between Sales, Engineering, and external stakeholders, contributing to solution definition from early tender stage through project handover. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tendering & Proposal Development

Analyze RFQs, tender documents, and technical specifications related to wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), both civil and industrial.

Develop complete technical and commercial proposals, ensuring compliance with process requirements, client expectations, and internal guidelines.

Coordinate with internal departments (process engineering, mechanical engineering, procurement, finance, projects) to collect inputs for bids.

Perform cost estimation, material take-offs, and preparation of BOQs for water and wastewater treatment solutions.

Ensure timely and accurate submission of tenders and clarification responses.
Application Engineering & Process Support

Provide pre-sales technical and process support to Sales and customers.

Define and recommend process solutions and equipment for:

Preliminary and primary treatment

Secondary (biological) treatment
-
Tertiary and polishing steps
-
Sludge treatment and handling (where applicable)

Size and configure treatment units and packages (e.g. screens, grit removal, clarification, filtration, sludge equipment).

Prepare process descriptions, technical datasheets, layouts, and technical clarifications.

Support and participate in technical meetings, workshops, and presentations with customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and authorities.
Client, Consultant & Vendor Interface

Liaise with clients, consultants, technology partners, and EPC contractors to clarify process and technical aspects during the tender phase.

Interface with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain quotations, technical data, and delivery information.

Align technical solutions with international standards and specifications (e.g. EN, ISO, local standards, project-specific requirements).
Post‑Bid Support & Project Handover

Follow up on submitted tenders and support post‑bid technical clarifications and negotiations.

Contribute to contract review from a technical and scope-of-supply perspective.

Ensure a structured handover of awarded projects to the execution team, including all technical, commercial, and process documentation.
Organizational & Knowledge Sharing

Support and mentor junior application or tendering engineers.

Contribute to standardization of technical solutions, tools, and templates.

Share know‑how on wastewater treatment technologies and applications within the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (with clear exposure to water/wastewater treatment).

4–7 years of experience in application engineering, tendering, or technical sales within the water and wastewater treatment sector.

Proven experience with municipal and/or industrial wastewater treatment processes.

Strong understanding of treatment technologies, plant layouts, and process interfaces.
-
Experience in tenders for EPC or public sector projects is a strong advantage.
Technical & Professional Skills
-
Ability to translate process requirements into technical solutions and commercial proposals.

Familiarity with international tendering practices and contractual frameworks (e.g. EPC, FIDIC).

Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (or equivalent), and ERP/CRM tools (e.g. SAP).

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
