Job Description
As a Software Test Engineer for Ultrasound Workspace, located in Munich, you are responsible for the verification of a complex medical software system in a highly cross‑functional and regulated environment. In this role, you verify AI‑based product features, ensuring their safe, reliable, and compliant integration into clinical workflows. You apply requirements‑ and risk‑based verification strategies, assess the impact of AI‑related changes and ensure traceability and regulatory compliance. With a strong system-thinking mindset, you focus on end‑to‑end system behavior, clinical workflows and interfaces across different software components.
Your role:

You design and execute requirements‑ and risk‑based verification activities for a medical software system

You contribute to the validation and testing of AI‑based products by applying a solid understanding of data requirements and AI model metrics, including preparation of AI model validation datasets

You execute comprehensive testing activities (functional, performance, load, robustness, and reliability) to ensure software and AI system quality across diverse usage scenarios
-
You verify end‑to‑end system behavior, including workflows and interfaces
-
You ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and verification evidence
-
You assess change impact and maintain verification activities across the product lifecycle
-
You perform verification in compliance with FDA and EU regulations (e.g. MDR, IEC 62304, ISO 13485)

You create and maintain regulatory‑compliant verification documentation

You collaborate closely with scrum master, product owner, software development and quality team

You design, implement, and maintain automated system and regression tests

You take ownership of test environments, including setup, maintenance, and availability for verification and validation activities

You drive verification efficiency and coverage through test automation
You’re the right fit if:

You hold a degree in Computer Science, Biomedical / Medical Engineering, Software Engineering, Engineering or a comparable technical field

You have 5+ years of professional experience in software test engineering, with a strong focus on system‑level verification of complex software systems

You have extensive experience performing requirements‑based and risk‑based verification, including traceability between requirements, test cases, and verification evidence
-
You have hands‑on experience verifying end‑to‑end system behavior, including workflows, interfaces, and interactions across multiple software components

You have worked in agile, cross‑functional teams and collaborated closely with scrum master, product owner, development and quality roles
-
You have experience testing complex systems involving databases, networks and external system interfaces
-
You have knowledge of hospital IT environments and standards such as DICOM or HL7; familiarity with FHIR is considered an advantage

You have experience designing and maintaining system‑level automated and regression tests to improve verification efficiency and coverage

You hold an ISTQB certification (or a comparable testing or quality certification), which is considered a plus
-
You have a highly structured, analytical, and independent way of working and take full responsibility for verification quality and completeness
-
You have a strong drive to continuously improve verification strategies, processes and tooling in a regulated software environment

You have excellent communication skills, enabling effective alignment with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders across functions

You are fluent in English and German, as both languages are required for daily collaboration and documentation
