Position Title: Telco Cloud Engineer Position Type: 1 year contract Start Date: ASAP Location Bucharest, Romania Contact: Iulia Balan | +49 (0) 89 23 88 98 62 Purpose of the Role Working closely with the wider Client's Technical teams you will assume the following responsibilities:- Installation and Commissioning - Work on a team of engineers providing installation support (lab and production) for the Client’s NFV Platform and Orchestration solutions, including: installation, commissioning and configuration of virtualized environment. This includes BIOS configuration, Linux Operating System installations and configuration, network scripts, etc. Installation, configuration and maintenance of Kubernetes-based CaaS environments including Redhat and Windriver Testing Support – Create test cases, test plans and execute test plans for Client’s ORAN applications in customer labs. Document test results. This includes feature testing, performance testing and inter-operability testing. Tier2/3 Support – Work in a team environment, to troubleshoot commercial Virtualization and Orchestration application issues, propose workarounds, and work with R&D to provide the RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to the customer. This sometimes involves 24x7 support. Works closely with various support organizations and cross-functional teams from Client’s R&D to achieve successful new product roll-outs and developments. Ensure that customer commitments are achieved according to plan. Ability to travel sporadically during the project. Provide support during Rollout of SW or implementation of features/functionality and attend technical discussions on deployment topics and issues Support customer interfaces/periodic forums regarding the current and future ORA technologies Create exceptional customer relationships Ensure close co-operation and support liaison with Client’s R&D Work to achieve close co-operation and support liaison with Client’s higher technical teams What we need for this role Excellent understanding of the operations and maintenance + test/acceptance and support phases of mobile communications networks with a minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role. Ability to influence customers towards Client’s preferred testing solutions. Know how on corresponding Telecom Equipment Willingness for fast self-training on equipment, support tools/applications and understanding of Client's implementation of features or functions Ability to deliver final proposal documents to a high standard within tight timescales. Enthusiastic and positive attitude Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision Hard Skills Educated to Degree Level, preferably in Telecoms, Electronics or Computer Science/I Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role in the telecom/IT sector Previous experience of multi vendor network management solutions covering Fault Management, Configuration Management, Accounting, Performance Management and Security Proven customer and stakeholder managements skills Exceptional communicator both internally and towards the customer Excellent organisational skills and an ability to anticipate customer’s needs and act accordingly Excellent level of presentation, communication and planning skills. Ability to prepare & deliver complex technical concepts to a high standard within tight timescales. 3gpp protocol layer 3G/4G/5G/vRAN knowledge - RRC/RLC/MAC/PHY/GTP/PDCP Expertise in Linux system administration, networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, SDN), and security Proven VNF and CNF skills and/or experience K8S/Openstack/Harbor and cloud platforms skills and experience Familiarity with real-time OS tuning, DPDK, SR-IOV (for high-performance RAN workloads) MS Office Suite (Competent User) Excel, Word & PowerPoint (High Competence) Fluent in spoken and written English Excellent documentation writing skills Exceptional ability to navigate large and complex organisations to build relationships and influencing capabilities Excellent communication and presentation skills Build awareness on how to navigate the Client’s organisation to progress and resolve customer issues in a timely fashion Successfully delivers to customer requirements and is recognized by customer(s) for his/her technical acumen and problem solving capability Develops and fosters a team culture and is willing to seek assistance and provide assistance to colleagues and as a result is recognized by peers as having a positive contribution to the team Works under minimum supervision yet recognizes when coaching or support from others delivers a better outcome Shows a keen interest in developing new skills particularly in Open/vRAN technology.
