Técnico de laboratorio para Departamento de Microbiología en Barcelona - Empleo de Verano (Jun. - a Sept.)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
May be responsible for any or all of the following

Performs laboratory analyses and tests to diagnose various pet and other animal illnesses, injuries and diseases; processes specimens, retrieves and releases test results, and assists in test research

Performs a variety of instrument test protocols for new and existing products
-
Maintains and communicates schedules and changes in schedules
-
Manages lab inventory, procures supplies and stocks shelves
-
Responsible for general lab maintenance and overall cleanliness of lab and lab equipment
-
Supports and maintains various processes, systems and databases
-
Performs recordkeeping, data collection and analysis
-
Transcribes and edits pre-dictated medical reports using dictation and editing equipment (both hardware and software)
-
Performs administrative duties such as answering phones and preparing parcel deliveries, files requisitions, and performs duties in support of billing, pricing and sample transportation
R&D

Performs laboratory analyses and tests to diagnose various pet and other animal illnesses, injuries and diseases; processes specimens, retrieves and releases test results, and assistsin test research

Assist in test research ( BRIC CysB particle testing and WIP BMB LTS)
-
Performs a variety of instrument ( Beckman, MPX and Litesizer),test protocols for new and existing products
-
Maintains and communicates schedules and changes in schedules (Updates Smartsheet)
-
Manages lab inventory, procures supplies and stocks shelves
-
Responsible for general lab maintenance and overall cleanliness of lab and lab equipment
-
Supports and maintains various processes, systems and databases
-
Performs recordkeeping, data collection and beginning to perform analysis
-
Performs administrative duties such as answering emails and opening parcel deliveries.
-
Performs laboratory testing of various pet assay and other animal illnesses, injuries and diseases; processes specimens, manages assay results, and assists in assay research
-
Performs testing across multiple platforms that require a strong level of technical ability, including proper pipetting technique
-
Performs record keeping, data collection, analysis, and electronic notebook
-
Receives and aliquots biological samples as well as maintains sample tracking database
-
Performs instrument calibration and QC
-
Potential to handle sterile or biohazardous materials
-
Prepare and dilute reagents
EDUCATION:
- High School degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Associates degree or equivalent preferred.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), material safety data sheets (MSDSs), operating and maintenance instructions, government rules and technical procedures

Good computer skills: Microsoft Office and SAP preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

May be required to work in a controlled environmental chamber at elevated temperatures and humidity

May be exposed to laboratory bio medical waste, fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, and will be required to wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent this
-
May have the potential to be exposed to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans, and potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR). A complete list of such chemicals is available from the department supervisor.
