We are a key global provider of sustainable packaging solutions. We’re on a mission to make all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable. Every day, we ensure the hygiene and safety of food and drink for people around the world. We are Huhtamaki.
You could be part of our vision. Because it’s our talented people that make it happen. Our people on the shop floor producing innovative, sustainable products. Our people in our offices delivering excellence for our customers every day. It’s every one of us working together.
We offer a place where you can feel safe, be supported, and make an impact so we can all focus on the future together.
Your opportunity
Huhtamaki is currently looking to hire a Platform Architect to join our Global IT Team.
As a Platform Architect, reporting to our Head of Enterprise Architecture, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving our digital platforms. This role will focus on our Manufacturing & Shopfloor systems (MES, OT, and industrial automation) — whilst contributing to a unified enterprise architecture vision.
**Where you’ll be **
You will be located at our Espoo HQ in Finland on a hybrid basis and should be within reasonable commuting distance from here.
What you'll be doing
-
Architectural Driver: Define and drive the technical architecture of your platform domain. Develop IT standards, design patterns, and architectural blueprints aligned to our security, enterprise, and — where applicable — OT frameworks.
-
Designing the Solution: Partner with product owners and business or factory stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable, future-proof architectural designs, ensuring alignment with our broader enterprise architecture vision and principles.
-
Architecture Evolution: Continuously assess emerging technologies against the current landscape to identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities. Prioritize and justify architectural changes and resolve conflicts across the portfolio.
-
Hands-On Delivery: Actively participate in solution delivery, providing technical guidance and contributing directly to implementation where needed.
-
Quality Assurance: Champion and enforce global standards, guidelines, and architectural best practices across all platform initiatives.
What you’ll bring to the role
-
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
-
5+ years of experience in platform or enterprise architecture, in Manufacturing/Shopfloor systems.
-
Proven experience in software architecture and development within IT/OT or industrial manufacturing environments.
-
Hands-on experience in implementing MOM/MES applications and shopfloor digitalization platforms.
-
Strong experience integrating label printing and management systems (e.g., Bartender, NiceLabel, or similar) within manufacturing workflows.
-
Experience with end-of-line automation, including integration with robotic palletizers, conveyors, and warehouse handoff points.
-
Familiarity with broader shopfloor peripheral integrations such as barcode scanners, vision systems, weighing stations, SCADA interfaces, and plant-floor HMIs.
-
Knowledge of ISA-95 standard and associated systems.
-
Familiarity with Industrial Cybersecurity Standards.
-
Experience with Kepware, Ignition, or similar industrial connectivity/SCADA platforms.
