Job Description:
The opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Science Engineer who will play a key role in designing, developing, and scaling advanced data‑driven and AI/ML solutions within HVDC Digital R&D. This role is intended for a professional with a strong technical background who is able to work independently, lead technical topics, and contribute to the long‑term direction of analytical platforms and products.
In this position, you will take ownership of end‑to‑end analytical solutions – from data understanding and model development to production deployment and lifecycle management. You will work hands‑on with Python‑based solutions, machine‑learning models, data pipelines, and modern software engineering practices, while collaborating closely with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders.
Beyond technical delivery, we expect this role to actively contribute to architectural decisions, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of less experienced team members. Clear communication, pragmatism, and a product‑oriented mindset are essential, as our solutions are used in real HVDC projects worldwide.
You will join the Analytics Scrum Team, which develops a dedicated platform for analytical algorithms integrated with web applications used to monitor HVDC stations. Our solutions enable real‑time data analysis, predictive maintenance, and visualization of key metrics to ensure reliability, availability, and efficiency of HVDC systems.
High‑Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) is a key enabler for a carbon‑neutral energy system. Solutions developed within HVDC Digital R&D directly support the energy transition by improving asset reliability, maintainability, and operational insight.
How you'll make impact

Understand business and domain-specific technical requirements to define the scope of data analysis and identify opportunities for further investigation.
-
Take technical ownership of selected analytics components or end‑to‑end use cases, from problem definition to deployment.
-
Design, develop, and maintain advanced analytical and machine‑learning solutions for condition monitoring, diagnostics, and forecasting following modern software engineering practices.
-
Actively contribute to architectural discussions and technical decisions affecting analytics platform and digital offering.
-
Share knowledge, progress, and learnings openly with the team.
-
Continuously develop your skills by learning new data analysis techniques, tools, and best practices.
Your background
-
5+ years of professional experience in data science, applied AI/ML, or a closely related field.
-
Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related discipline - or equivalent practical experience.
-
Strong foundation in data science, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, optimization, model development, training, and deployment.
-
Practical experience with machine learning methods and statistical modeling.
-
Advanced programming skills in Python.
-
Experience delivering and maintaining analytical or machine‑learning solutions that are used in production systems.
-
Fluent in English, good communication skills and ability to explain results and ideas clearly.
